Eating too much or too little - Trying to find that balance

I'm not interested in bulking/cutting because it has a huge yo-yo affect on me...

While trying to build muscle and simultaneously lose body fat, it can be difficult to find that "right balance" and not eat too much or too little. Right now I'm in that "experiment and monitor" phase yet haven't found that right balance quite yet.. How did you find your balance?

I too am trying to find that "happy medium" you speak of. I think I'm somewhat in the realm with about 250-300g of protein, keeping carbs to beginning and mid-day meals, while maintaining eating 6x a day. At your meals, dont eat a TON, eat enough to make you full, while still getting your protein. I always also try to add healthy fats to each meal. For instance if I have a shake, I also have a few TB's of peanut butter, or almonds, or something like that. This way your not taking in tons of calories, but your getting enough for your body to grow. Also monitor your calories while working out with a heart rate monitor. Do some cardio, but don't over work yourself.

I know this isn't the "exact" answer your looking for, but it's the best I can do to help you out since I'm also doing the same thing.

I've asked several people about gaining muscle and losing fat simultaneously and they look at me like I'm crazy! lol! Do you think that it can be done??

Gaining muscle & burning fat are basically incompatible. Gaining muscle generally requires a surplus of calories, and when you are on a fat loss diet, you inevitably lose muscle tissue as the body raids it's protein reserves for glucose.

That's not to say it's impossible. People just starting out bodybuilding usually do it, as would anyone getting back into it after a long layoff. The right combination of AAS would probably do it as well - but the point is that it's only something that can be achived for a short time with the right balance of stimuli.

Which one do you need to do most urgently ? Lose fat or gain muscle ?
