Effects of prednesone?

I got poison ivy or something very much like it and my MD put me on prednesone. It seemed to make me tired and horny. I am on TRT. I have heard this is a drug with a lot of bad side effects. Does it mimic anything in the body? Is it catabolic?

I got the pills yesterday and have just about stopped taking them (the condition has improved).

IT IS CATABOLIC,or at least it can be. i doubt you will be on long enough to experience negative side effects. keep the therapy short.it does work very well for its intended purpose.

It does mimic an adrenal hormone, cortisol. It's a little surprising that it makes you tired . . . not surprising at all that it makes you horny. Most people who have taken prednisone report that it gets then pretty jazzed. I've had to take on a couple of separate occasions. Both times, I felt terrific, except I was very irritable.

Just make sure you take all the medication exactly as your physician has prescribed it.
