Electric vs Handhelp pump vs Syringe filters

Hey guys, just got my raw powders in from overseas which is amazing considering im from Australia. Am going through the process of purchasing everything I need to homebrew. I think I have a good handle on most of it so far but now im down to ordering the parts I need for the filtering process.

Plan is to make roughly 300mls of oil once it all arrives. I see people complaining about the syringe method being too tedious for this amount of oil, and the hand pump being a pain in the ass, and I dont mind spending the extra money on an electric pump but I have no idea what to get? Ive had a look at something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Karlsson-Robotics-D2028-Vacuum-Pump/dp/B00DYA21PU but then I think I need to get special leads and adapters because plugs in the US are different? I've heard of a 3cfm pump being recommended and was looking at something like this: 2.5CFM 1-Stage Refrigerant Vacuum Pump Refrigeration Gauges A/C Air Conditioning | eBay but idk if thats the right product for this purpose

Just looking for recommendations from people who have been through the process and anything you wish you did/didnt purchase or went about differently. Also if recommending an electric pump, which one do I go for? Cheers

I have filtered liters of oil using a caulking gun and a 60 mL syringe. The biggest batch I ever did in one sitting was 470 mL’s and I wanted to shoot myself in the face after it was done. Batches around 250 mL or less aren’t terrible, but they’re still tedious with syringe filters.

I’ve literally never heard anything good about hand pumps.

I recently saw this one recommended from Amazon, but I haven’t even bought it, much less used it so I cannot vouch for it.

I used to do the caulking gun method but that got very old very quickly.
I use a 3 CFM vacuum pump these days with media bottle-top filters (so much easier!)

Only thing I had to learn is that you can overwhelm portions of the rig (like plastic media bottles or the filters themselves) by letting the vacuum pressure differential get too harsh.

Definitely go with the electric pump. For the cost, it’s well worth it, especially if you will homebrew consistently. If the plug isn’t right just get an adapter.

One thing I wish I did purchase was a stir plate with a heating element. Since I already had lab supplies before home brewing (including a water bath and magnetic stirrers) I didn’t get one. Dumb idea. I have to cover the brew so water doesn’t get in, heat, then put it on my stirrer and it’s quite inconvenient.

yep, I used a plastic media bottle with my 3 cfm habor freight pump, the vacuum cracked it and all the oil leaked out

How would you filter it to 0.2 micron. That's recommended to filter steroid oil.
Bottle top or syringe filter.

I personally like the Autofil bottle top filters much more than I did syringe filters.
