So I was curious if they had been battle tested in court and turns you you’re kind of right. They don’t log by default but if they receive a valid court order to start tracking they will.

It also said it will only do that for a Swiss court order and in this case a Swiss law was broken hence the court order.

Besides, if a three letter agency wants you they don't need your encrypted emails. Most people will post on all their social media all the stupid shit they are doing. Hell, I just saw this video of a guy literally shilling for QSC on YouTube!

ProtonMail is also careful to point out that although its user's IP address and browser fingerprint were collected by Swiss authorities acting on behalf of Interpol, the company's guarantees of email content privacy were not breached.

Total nothingburger. Once your browser makes a request to any server someone along the route is going to log your IP address and request metadata.

This is how the internet works unless you have a direct connection to Proton Mail's servers from your laptop.

Or you use a VPN in which case again, someone is going to log that you connected to the VPN service anyways so I guess all VPN's are compromised too.

Not interested in debating this any further because it's clear everyone spreading FUD about Proton Mail being "compromised by da feds n shiet it's a honeypot dood they dusted yo fingerprintz rite off the emailz" couldn't insert AA batteries into a TV remote without watching a YouTube tutorial on it.

By all means use Tor + 7 VPN's + Tails OS + Monero + Libreboot on a 20 year old ThinkPad connected directly to an underwater cable in international waters and enjoy getting caught because the guy who was going to ship your package of 50 g tren ace powder fell asleep in the car after parking in a handicap zone and it had your address on it visible from the passenger window.

Proton Mail is pretty fucking good. If you can use a VPN and a separate device then even better! OMG Proton Mail didn't personally overthrow the government when they got a court order they're literally a CIA front.
