Fasted cardio?!?!

I have been cycling carbs for a few weeks and doing a day or two of fasted cardio early morning. After doing some research on how fast or slow I should say our bodies break down food for usage I see that the insulin spike doesn't come for about 60-90 Min.
My question is, would it be beneficial to drink protien with some carbs before fasted cardio to catch the spike immediately following a workout?

Timing is everything and I just haven't experimented with this yet. Thanks for all Input. Technical explanations welcomed!

Where is your heart rate at during cardio?

Doing 70%, so for me it's about 112-115. Low intensity.

Thanks for all the obvious "not fasted if you eat first comments"!

Was looking not for timing of body breaking down and using for energy rather than hitting fat stores which is the goal.

Cal in/cal out is fully understood and managed well. Just. Looking for every edge possible when it comes to fat burning for fuel.

Fasted, LISS, cardio is advantageous only for a specific population - namely, very lean individuals (single digit bf%) who have been dieting for a decent amount of time (months). Outside of that context, its not necessary.

Insulin spiking is complete bullshit and should be completely disregarded - your not going to get any added gains by spiking insulin naturally.

I swear by fasted cardio... it does wonders for me. As much as I have a love-hate relationship with it, well... cardio in general... lol...I notice a difference doing it on empty stomach.

Let's simplify this for you OP. Unless you are using very specific compounds which have an additive effect when used alongside fasting and activity (think yohimbine HCL and rHGH) then don't spend too much time mentally masturbating.

Simply get in the cardiovascular activity when it is most convenient for you (and also realize that things like LISS are not a great time investment if you are using them for lipolysis purposes).

No no it is not. Calories in vs calories out is everything. If you eat before you do fasted cardio it's not fasted... Unless you actually enjoy working out on an empty stomach then don't, there is no added benfit to doing it fasted then there is to doing it with something in your belly as long as your daily calories remain the same
THANK YOU. I've tried explaining this to at least 3 different people that I know... it's pseudo science, and completely bullshit.

And fuck cardio completely. I started it.. once.. or twice.. and never did it again. Still lost 55lbs naturally. Just eat better.

Kind of an old thread, but just to add my $0.02 anyways.

I believe carb cycling and fasted cardio is completely pointless at least for the average person. when I was big into mma I would maintain 7%ish bodyfat 24/7. I did that for months without struggling whatsoever in my training or using any fancy dieting techniques. I was trying to maintain 170lbs at the time and was eating 350 grams of carbs, 60 grams of fat, and 300 grams of protein every day. I didn't time my carbs up, I didn't fast myself, I would eat steadily from when I wokeup all the way until I was about to go to sleep.

Nowadays I usually won't go below 10% because I don't have a reason to, but even to get to some decently visible abs all I do is gradually cut out 25 carbs a day every week for probably 3-6 weeks (depends how fat I am at the time I start cutting) and without adding any cardio I'll easily lose that lower belly fat and look pretty lean.

SOOO does fasted cario help? I am hearing it does. How long should one do fasted cardio?

I really think fasted cardio is preference I haven't found any studies showing it's effective with that said I do all my training fasted and always have. I wouldn't worry about it much it's not going to make or break anything. Apply the 80/20 rule

Ok well I am doing 15-20 min a day in the morning fasted, to get rid of belly fat. I dont want to lose a lot of weight though. I will try it out, for myself.

What are your goals OP?
Cardio is very catabolic, and really is an energy and muscle waste when done.
Are you in this for body building/aesthetics?
Or for health?
I don't recommend fasting or cardio.
Cardio has no affect on fat burning, it's all in your deiting!!!

You will not get rid of body fat or belly fat with cardio, you may even gain some!
You need to cut down your caloric intake and train abs more if that is your goals.
Cardio is Catabolic waste of energy with no aesthetics effects.
If your diet/training is in check you will never need to do cardio.
