VEGAS... You got some great guitarists on your list...I know his style is "love or hate" but you cant exclude YNGWIE MALMSTEEN. I saw him in concert "A FEW " years ago and he was unreal.

Hey RICKZILLA...(Isn't that a japanese thrash band?) Didn't forget him just couldn't spell it.....thanks...Vegas

Fuk Vegas i cant believe it you know who Roy Buchannon is Double sweet, most of the musician i meet dont even know who he is sad 2 say and im like dude he was one of the greastest guitarist way ahead of his time that hung himeself in a Virginia jail with guitar strings and they still have no idea who im talking about.

And ive seen Yngwie about 3-4 years ago in Harpo's in Detroit and he was a fat as fuk and exicuted more than jammed so it was kind of a letdown but i got one of his gutiar picks and there thick as hell.

another guitarist i didnt like at fist cause i thought he was a Rhodes clone was Zakk Wylde but after i heard his Pride and Glory cd i figured out where he was commin from, hell i even got to hang out with him and knock back a few brews and bull shit b4 his concert in a lil dive

Bass Players Rule!!!

How about some Bass Players ( Might have something to do the fact that I toured around the east coast as a pro bassist for the last 15 yrs. !!!,Thats why my user is graybass, my last name is Gray.) Oh No! I reveled my seccret Identity! I'm tired of you Tinny sounding 6 stringers getting all the credit!! You guys sound like a cheap transistor radio without us Bass players. LOL I'm just kidding!! But think about this, during any song (not solo's) Most guitar players can just strum chords while I have to know every note of every chord, which ones to play in what order, for what type of feel to portray for that song, plus have total knowledge of how the drums fit into the beat of the song, which notes he's playing that I should play (or not play) while the guitar player can relax and strum along like my trained monkey could!
I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I just had to rant a while.... My last guitar player had about as much pro training as my cat. ( yes I have a fucking cat too!!)
He couldn't even tell you names of most of the chords he played(I've had 10 yrs of private training, I studied with Norman Edge, world famous jass bassist, and I've been playing and returning for advanced training for 20 yrs.) I've been in at least 10-12 bands ( every type of music ) playing 3-6 nights a week my whole life. Don't get me wrong there are some great!! guitar players out there, But they ain't shit without the bass player.
Again, don't anyone take my rant personally, but I deserve It, LOL..... GB

The greatest band ever....RUSH
also, Iron Maiden.
I like Vegas' list. But to add to it, George Lynch of Dokken...great guitarist..awesome sound and style.

KB

1. Led Zep
2. Pink Floyd
3. Jimi
4. Alice in Chains
5. Peace Division (house music out of the UK)

Gotta say I love the Mad Season cd as well, but it's the only one they put out. Has Layne Staley, Pearl Jam's Mike McCready, the Screaming Trees' Barrett Martin, blues bassist John Saunders, and Screaming Trees' Mark Lanegan on a couple of tracks. Simply a great album.

I do believe Alex Lifeson and Adrian Smith would agree... What would RUSH and IRON MAIDEN have been without GEDDY and STEVE HARRIS... ZERO...

Grey i gota give credit where it its due and jazz is a very tricky fluent style to play also believe it or not so is bluegrass because you have no drummer :D But as for my favorite Bass players i like

1. Phil Lynott
2. Phil Lynott
3. Did i mention Phil Lynott?
4. Geezer Butler cause his bass sounds like death
5. Cliff Burton "RIP"

Also u guys are right about Pantera the first 2 of there cd's Vulgar display of power being my fave is kick ass. The last project that i heard about Phil working on he was on tour with Hank Williams the III believe it or not.
