Normally, I use the Millipore Stericup, however I can't find one in .22 now, just .45 and I'm not 100% confident in that.

I know the IDEAL way is to use a media bottle, I just don't know HOW much I trust my ability to sterilize the glassware (I don't mind paying a few bucks more bucks for a sterile set up from the beginning).

Anyway, who has used the Foxx Autofil units? I haven't had an issue with the Millipore cracking, I just let it drip nice and slow. Planning to make about 100mls, so syringe filters are out. Other option is if you guys know another place besides GPZ to get Stericups in .22....

Thanks!

Did it have a nipple to attach the vacuum hose? I can't see one in the pics..

Yeh mate, comes with the kit. Just clips into it. For me they were a great filter

I've been using the Millipore stericup and they Crack and leak like crazy.. I see fox doesn't offer the auto fill with the pvdf filters. Any suggestions?

Best bet is to get a glass media bottle and use a whatman bottle top filter, sterilise media bottle each time you brew. It will never crack

Personally i just use foxx autofill PES, and also naglene nylon filters, they both have plastic receiver bottles come with them. Ive had one crack i think

Ive heard so many nightmare stories about millipores

Yea millipores suck man, I lost 3 bottles brewing 30 up last time. The issue with whatman is that if I'm using EO it'll eat through won't it? I didn't see any whatman filters with pvdf.

Only use 0.22
0.45 ain't enough for use outside clean room facilities.
Filters are fully legal but many retailers only sell in 50 or 100 unit packs.

As an update, used the 2 Autofills since making this post, I have enjoyed it both times. I would recommend it, didn't have any issues with cracking... However, I didn't over pressurize the shit out of it, just let it slowly trickle.

What carrier oil?
Glad you had success mate

Yeh i would have to agree. Wen i used autofills and MCT it filtered very fast. Think i sat around 8psi
I don't have a guage, I ought to get one. I just do a few pumps until it trickles, let it go until it stops, then pump again! It's worked well this far!

How many ml can you filter with just one foxx autofil 0.2 filter? Will 1000ml flow through a 1000ml autofil kit? Mct would be carrier. Also are the plastic media cups that they come with okay for long term storage?
