Final Baseline Test Results before going on TRT.

I went to the lab to get my final baseline for T prior to starting Androgel 5g QD and here's what they were:

9/2/05
Total T: 126 (400 - 1080 ng/dL)
Free T: 36.3 (47 - 244 pg/mL)
Estradiol (E2): 37 (0 - 56 pg/mL)

That along with my previous tests:

7/27/05
TT: 153 L (400 - 1080 ng/dL :Age Adjusted 20-40yrs)
FT: 41.8 L (47 - 244 pg/mL)
SHBG: 10 L (13 - 71 nmol/L)
FAI: 53.091 (> 70% ???)
%FT: 2.7 (1.6 - 2.9 %)
FSH: 6.3 (0.7 - 11.1 mlU/mL)
LH: 3.1 (0.8 - 7.6 mlU/mL)
Prolac: 15.6 (2.5 - 17 ng/mL)
E2: 26 (0 - 56 pg/mL)

7/15/05
TT: 189 BL (181 - 861 ng/dL)
FT: 40.8 L (47 - 244 pg/mL)

Pretty much confirms it for me. Im glad I had these last lab tests done as I didnt trust the TT test done at my local medical group lab on 7/15.

Ive been taking Androgel now for four days and had some interesting reactions the first few days like spontaneous erections, stiff muscles, body aches and some lightheadedness but that all seems to be slowly going away now. Im hoping one day I wakeup and all the symptoms are gone. Im not sure 5g is going to do it for me but Im anxious to see what happens.

I also want to thank all of you for your sage advice over the past month as Ive been searching for answers. Your help has been invaluable to me and I really appreciate it!!!

I am just glad to see that you have taken your time to educate yourself on the topic, to get the necessary tests done and to make a well considered decision. It looks you are doing the right things. :)

BTW, when I started TRT my total T levels were at 200ng/dl. My doc put me on IM injections the first months "because the gels weren't able to raise the T-levels from such a low starting point".

Yea, I'm figuring that I'll go up to Androgel 10g soon and that if that dose doesn't work I'll probably end up on Depo-T. I just don't want to fight with the doctor much when I say I want weekly injections and not bi-monthly or monthly (eek!) Just gotta do it one step at a time though, I have an appointment tomorrow with another endo so I'll see what happens.

That's what I have done as well. Just play along with the doc - one step at a time - , wait on the results, see what can be improved and discuss what you think is the best solution with your doc. Eventually you will end up with the best solution AND you didn't hurt his pride by enforcing him your own (=SWALE's) protocol.
