Yes 10% is kind of the norm. I honestly was being conservative incase I made a dumb mistake. But I also don't know how it would hold at 25mg over instead of 5mg. Shouldn't be to far off. This is what drew.me to home brewing. The ability to make my own. I spent a little extra money upfront and got a magnetic stirrers hotplate and beakers. I really think that helped make this first run smooth.Generallly to be on the xtra safe side a 10% is what i do to ensure that possible 90% pure “ impure raw”. Any thing below 90% I’m going after my supplier if I find out. You overdosed 2% so if your raws are 98 or 98+ your good to go. Never know with HPLC on raw though. Or pull bloods after 4 weeks.
10% is my general peace of mind. That would be 25mg over.
I got a magnetic stirring hot plate to start and it really seemed to do all the work for sure. I used a stainless steel digital meat thermometer to watch oil temp. I needed about 110-112°f and about 15 - 20 mins of a slow spin/stir and it finally all blended and went into suspension. Tbh at first with 100°f and 5 mins of spinning I got nervous asf because it seemed like nothing was happening. Needed patience and I little confidence in tje recipe. Good luck .this was a huge learning experience for me. I seriously enjoy learningNice. Just ordered all the supplies. Can't wait to start.
