First Cycle Sustanon Style (In Depth)

Week 6 Results
Weight: 219 (up 9 lbs) – This is the first week that my weight did not increase. I am up 9 total pounds, but down 1 from last week. I will slightly increase my calories from 500 calories surplus to 750-1000 calories surplus. I have officially moved from large size shirts to extra large and my jeans are now too tight. Went jean shopping yesterday. Trying to find jeans that have a reasonable waist and larger legs is getting next to impossible….

Workouts: This week I have felt the strongest since the start of the cycle. Leg day was especially satisfying. Weights and workout listed below.

Dosing: I am still doing 500mg/week of Sustanon, pinning MWF. I started 400iu of hcg on week 5 and have continued pinning 2xweek (250iu Mon, 250iu Fri). Arimidex has remained consistent at 0.25mg MWF. finasteride has been 1mg/day since the start of the cycle to combat possible hair loss. No sides noticeable yet.

I am getting my blood work done in 3 days. I will get it done roughly 48 hours after my pin. I suspect that my estrogen may be a bit elevated. Time will tell…

Week 6 Results
Weight: 219.5 (up 9.5 lbs) - I am starting to wonder if I will ever get over 220 :). I am very happy with my size, strength and endurance improvements, but I wouldn't mind gaining another few pounds. Anyone else gain a lot at first, then level out?

Workouts: I honestly feel stronger every week. I have been working out consistently for over 10 years, but these recent workouts have felt the best in years. I am just trying to not overdue my weights and injure myself at this point.

Blood Work: I got my blood work done 2 days ago and should have the results by Monday. I will be out of town for a week, so I may have to post it in a little over a week. Excited to see how things measure up.

Week 9 Results and Blood Work
Weight: 222.5 (up 12.5 lbs) - I finally broke the 220lb barrier and I am happy to say that this is the heaviest I have ever been. Feeling a little sluggish, but very happy with my quality muscle gains.

Blood Work: I got my bloodwork back and I am pretty happy with the results. I had pre-cycle total testosterone of 239 and my current value is 3287. My estradiol is slightly high at 45 (normal is considered 39 and under). I will increase my arimidex dosage from 0.25 eod to 0.5 eod. I don't seem to have any high estrogen side effects other than a little bit of extra water weight.

Workouts: This last week I was out of town on vacation so workouts were mostly full body kettlebell and bodyweight workouts with some cardio. I look forward to getting back after it this week and getting some more PR's.

Week 10 Results:
Weight: 223.5 (up 13.5lbs) - My weight is steadily increasing again and I am very happy with my increased size. I will be ending the cycle on week 12 and if I made no more weight gain after this week I would still be very happy. Many of my shirts and jeans don't fit anymore and it is honestly becoming a bit of a pain in the ass. Poor me. Haha :)

Workouts: My strength continues to increase every workout I have just recently started to notice that I am getting pumps that are so hard that it almost hurts the skin. After a chest and arms day today I could barely bend my arms they felt so full. Love it.

Labido: Still through the roof. Mentally drained from having and trying to have sex all the damn time. Good lord.

Looking to train hard and finish strong these last two weeks. Hopefully I can maintain most of this new mass.

Week 11 Results:
Weight: 223 (up 13lbs) - Caught a nasty cold/fever this week and it put me out of commission on my workouts for 2 days. Easing back in, but I still feel like garbage. I should be back up to full strength by last week. Down 1/2 a pound, but still looking the same. Doing my best to get my calories in.

Final week next week!

Week 12 Results: (Last shot done!!)
Weight: 225 (up 15lbs) - My total weight gain this first cycle is 15lbs. I got my last pin in and I am very happy with my progress. This is my heaviest weight ever at 5'10.5" and I am looking very thick. I did make it to 220 in college, but I am currently stronger at 31 years old than I was then at age 22. Very happy with the product.

Workouts: I have enjoyed my workouts on this cycle more than I have in a number of years. Great endurance, strength and motivation. The first half of my cycle I was focusing on a more "bodybuilding" style of training with high volume and bodypart splits. I did a strength focused 5x5 type program my second half and made good progress on my totals. My Bench, Squat and Deadlift changed as follows:
Current Maxes
Bench: 320 (start) to 365 (current)
Squat: 455 (start) to 535 (current)
Deadlift: 415 (start) to 505 (current)
*My deadlift is still "back limited". I can lift a little more, but I have to back off due to back pain/tenderness.

Thanks everyone for checking this out and for all the advice. Now it is time to clean out the system and then get on my PCT. My goal is to keep my weight around 215.

Based on what you know now, would you have opted to run the entire cycle using a 5 x 5 strength program? Do you think your gains would have been better compared to the bodybuilder routine?

On my next cycle I do think I will do more of a 5x5 or powerlifting type routine the entire time. I was nursing a bit of a back injury, so I didn't want to hit the heavy weights too fast. I don't know if the gains would have been better. This was my first cycle, so still learning.

Thanks. The reason I asked is because i am currently doing Stronglifts 5x5 and what I was planning to do is to switch over to a hypertrophy program during my cycle.

I just assumed that I would get better results that way. But I definitely want to hear your opinion on that since you actually have tried a 5x5 program during your first cycle

I think you are the first person I have ever heard that used a 5x5 program during a first cycle

I made gains while doing both, so I think it can definitely be done. Even when doing 5x5 I did do a lot of assistance exercises and plenty of volume. My favorite part was the workout endurance. I felt like I could workout forever. Excited for you bro!

Cool. My biggest fear is tearing a pec or bicep from lifting HUGE weight on compound movements of 5x5. That is why I thought doing lower weight with higher reps and more volume would guarantee my safety. I heard people can feel like a Superman on their cycle and throw an extra 25lb plate on each side of the barbell and then TRAGEDY strikes.....

Im not adding more than 10lbs of weight at the next workout even if I feel like the Hulk

I had the same worry. Definitely challenge yourself, but be reasonable. I also really focused on warming up well and working on my stretching/mobility after.

Post-Cycle Update:
PCT Completed
Clomid 50mg 2xday, Nolva 20mg 1xday (2 weeks)
Clomid 25mg 1xday, Nolva 20mg 1xday (2 weeks)

It has now been roughly 20 days since I finished my PCT. My strength numbers have dropped a few percentage points, but I am still stronger than pre-cycle. At the end of my cycle I was up 15lbs to a weight of 225. I am now at 215 (5lbs up from pre-cycle). I am bigger than pre-cycle and at a similar body fat percentage, but have definitely lost some size. Overall I was very happy with my gains, but definitely see how it is hard to go back to normal training after a cycle. I will be getting blood work next week to see how my testosterone and other values have recovered. Thanks for reading.
