Has anyone here familiar with this?? ...got it off another TRT site, a DR. responding to a question :
"You must convert the units of measure used with total testosterone (ng/dl) to the same units of measure used for SHBG (nmol/L) this is done by using a coversion factor of .0347
Total T =739
SHBG = 64
Total testosterone=739ng/dl
739 x .0347=25.6433nmol/L
25.6433/64=.400 x 100= 40 F.A.I
Your SBHG is way to high so your free androgen index is low and most likely your free testosterone will be low. You would also need to know your estradiol in order to formulate a treatment plan."
The FAI is looking for a number > than 50%...if lower, candidate is elgible for TRT...if 50-70%- depends on med history and background... > 70%= normal.
