Getting the shits from Vitamin C tablets

I bought some Vitamin C tablets for the first time last week. Normally in the past I have just taken one mulitvitamin per day, but I was trying to boost my immune system and help with recovery. Well, taking 1500mg gave me diarrhea, so I dropped it to 1000mg and got the same thing. Now I'm down to 500mg per day and I'm still having diarrhea every day I take it. Does anyone else have problems with this?

cut the tab in half and take it in between meals not with meals.

try that and see, if not try another brand. best to stick with small amounts and split them up, body cans store it.

hope that helps.

Try going with the effervescent C packs, they re usually in 50 or 1000mgs. Try before activity or 15 min before having some sugarry meal.

maybe thats why im getting the shits, lol. try the vitamin c pills with rose hips in them, it makes it time-release so your body isnt getting hit with a gram of vit c all at once

Could be you're allergic to something in the filler. It only gave me the shits when I took more than 3 grams at a shot(wayback in the vegetarian days)and it burned a bit too. Try cutting back and/or a new brand(check out the ingredients in the filler, go for a different set up than in your present brand).

Vitamin C is a water soluable vitamin...what your body doesn't use, you just piss out. I wouldn't recommend taking hard tablets/pills because your body doesn't fully digest the pill...I would suggest taking a gel cap because your body will digest that and it will get fully absorbed. As for your body storing the C...I'm not really sure about that. I take C in the morning 2000mg and I take another 2000mg post workout. Taking too much C will give you diahrea...from my experience. :) Hope this helps.

This post has been up for days. I'm glad to see others find talking about diahhrea as entertaining as I do. :) But seriously though 1.5g of c isn't really very much and if you've still got it with less than there may be some other contributing factors. I'm pretty sensitive to stuff and I've taking a lot more than that with no problems. Maybe you should try taking it after meals. That can make a big difference with pills.
