This probably should be in the training section but I will ask if this post can stay here because I believe more people read this forum and classified more than anything else.
This is a technique I use while on gear which I find helps me up my strenght way past normal gear strenght.
It involves adding Heavy chains to each end of the barbell. A pic is attached at the bottom. (BTW that fat guy is not me)
this is a practice of The westdside Barbell Club
I have personally used and have uped my Bench max about 50lbs in 3 months.
Adding chains takes advantage of the muscles biomechanics.
The first few inches of a bench press is normally the easiest and it gets harder as you push up.
While using chains as you push up, the chains at each end come off the floor adding more and more resistance to the peak contraction point.
Ill tell you now I get some sick pumps from this.
The barbell chains are wicked fucking expensive to buy from a website so I made my own. Just get Galvanized 5/8" Chain at 5 feet lenght. As many as you want to add, each 5/8" segment wieghs around 20lbs so if you got one on each side you have 40lbs. also get a peice of smaller chain only about 10" worth for each side. this is the part that goes on the barbell. so just attach the 5/8" chain to the smaller chain and there you go! I used a clip so I could add or remove chains if I wanted.
All things can be purchased at home depot
