Hack Squats -vs- Regular Squats

Here is my question for those you know what the Hack Squat machine is. Let's say that someone can do 450 on the Hack Squat, what does that equal doing regular Squats? My friend and I where talking about this, and I say that if you can do 450 on the Hack Squat, that would equal 375-405 doing a regualr squat. I could be wrong, so that is the reason for this post. Thanks

I dont know if there is a mechanical formulation for this, but the hack squat is likely to be considerably higher. Personally, I wouldnt waste my time with a hack squat machine. If youre gonna do hack squats, at least do the real hack squat.

I would imagine that there is very, very, very little correlation between the crap you can bust out on a machine and what you can actually squat. I can leg press 1100 for reps, but I couldn't even stand beneath 800lbs.

The hack squat machine hurts in an unnatural painful way, and it does not seem optimal for leg growth.. It seems like a death trap for surefire injury, that's why I never do them. The lower I go, the more strain on my kneecaps. I see by the previous posts that I am not the only one who thinks this.

Do regular squats. If your back is sore for the day or you psychologically don't wanna go 'under the bar' you can do leg presses (although they are not as good).

Where can i go to learn how to do a "real hack squat" they sound very painful in a good way . I have never seen a real one only machine i never even herd of them till i read this

A real hack is basically a deadlift with the bar behind your legs. Here is one article about it. http://www.t-mag.com/articles/182squat2.htm

And heres one from Charles Poliquin. http://t-mag.com/html/20nause.html
