Headaches from training.

I am experiencing sudden onset of headaches anytime i reach say 95% effort on a lift or repping a given weight at a high level of effort. These headaches always affect half my head and are essentially the same as migraines.
The same thing happens during sex. Orgasm = Headache.
Fuck my life right now.
Fought the same symptoms approx. 5 months ago and i thought it was a one off and was glad to be rid of it.
My training is basically powerbuilding. No change in diet. Ive been working around some strains in my neck that may be a part of this.
Has anyone else experienced this bullshit? If so, did u find a way to remedy or avoid these symptoms?
Please help i cant do my 2 favorite things.

What are you running? Deca and npp do this to me every. Single. Time... just about to bust a nut and I fall over in migraine pain... workouts suffer- and it always happens after I have been on it 6-8 weeks so I never think it's the nandrolone- but after 4 runs I figured it out.

Ever pin point what about nandrolone does that to you? I've never had any of that happen and I've had deca or npp in almost ever cycle I've run. It's interesting how this stuff can effect people in different ways

Nope. If I keep running it eventually my neck freezes up and I am bedridden for days. I tried it different doses, esters, etc... headaches first, then neck carnage.

also thanks for the responses guys..
Have you gotten bloods recently? It could be estrogen.
Another culprit could be your spine/traps. I believe I have issues with some discs in the middle of my back... those scapular back muscles that connect to my traps pull on my neck and it becomes exacerbated by a workout pump, a sex pump- and really get fucked up when I have water retention from nandrolone. That's my unscientific guess... I know I always viewed chiropractors as witch doctors. One time my migraines were so bad and someone recommended their chiropractor who was like a sports medicine guy. I was marginally reassured when I saw bodybuilders and professional sports player pics on the wall where they had signed a thank you to him for hepling them out.
I went in, told him the problem was my neck and he told me to lay on my stomach. He pushed on my back and it popped and my headache went away like magic. A few times over the next couple years I would aggravate the area and he would adjust a few times... and I never had to go back. For what it's worth you could check that out- there is a relationship between all the muscles in your body and a misalignment or imbalance can affect different parts of your body in very unexpected ways. Deca triggered the exact same symptoms in me, but muscle and back realignment is what made it go away.

I had really forgotten about all of this until you had me thinking about it last couple days- made me fucking miserable at the time... sorry you are going through it.

My thought process would be:
-bloods, check blood volume markers and estrogen
-blood pressure
-tightness in neck and back

The comment above regarding chiro/soft tissue work is spot on. Everything is connected and one misalignment or tight area can hve rippling effects.

Bloods to be done probably week after next. Had intended to do them this coming week but being the hollidays not sure if i can work it in or not. Mostly had planned on doing them just to make sure everything was on the up and up but it will give me an answer on the estro issue.
No remarkable side effects i would consider related to high estro. I.e. no nipple sensitivity, no sexual malfunction, not holding water, no moodiness. But with that being said only bloods will tell.

I am thinking this is what is fucking me up. I quit training traps about a year and a half ago just because they were a constant source of strains and minor injuries. they get enough work from back and rear delts....
Ive had constant problems with my neck over the last year or so. I have realized i have a problem of straining through my neck on heavy deads or squats or Bench or Shoulder presses... I have strained it to the point that looking in the mirror the next day i can see that my neck is tilted to one side. Its fucked.

Strongly considering chiropractor. I've always been weary of them. Thinking kind of along the lines of "witch doctor" as well but if it offered you some relief it may help me out as well. Also have been going to professional.masseuse but im a bit overdue.

Ive had the majority of pain exactly as you described Brutus. Along the trap muscles around shoulder blade. Same fucking thing.

Find one focused on sports injuries. Some just want to trap you into twice a week for the rest of your life- some just realign you and you are good to go. Good luck man.

It's called an exertion headache.

Best way to treat this is to get plenty of fluids before and during workout. It helps to warm up prior to lifting intensely.

I would also lay off cialis, preworkouts and any "pump" supplements.

Plenty of water has helped me the most. Blood sugar can play a role also.

Yea I used to get them way before I ran gear. I was doing gironda 8x8 program. You basically just rest 30to45seconds between sets. Was going dips. Combination of the exertion and not breathing properly gave me the worst headache I ever got in my life, and I dont usually get headaches.

Had to stop working out, and recover. Strangely, even just a little exertion after that triggered the headache again. So l later that night it hit me again when I was having sex.

Exertion headache for the win.

Yes. I had read a lot the first time it happened and came across a good bit of info and basically narrowed it down to an exertion headache. I read that they usually occur in those who are already prone to migraine headaches. Which I am. The main point of the post was to figure out how to AVOID these shitshows.
Im wondering if brutus or eman or anyone else also are prone to migraines? (pain always on one side of head. bad enough to make you puke..go lay in a dark room and dont move type of shit) I had one of these headaches from heavy bench just turn into a full migraine about 6 hrs later. If i got a headache during one of these 2 to 3 week spells of exertion headaches..that fucker wasnt going away.
This last one wasnt as long as the first go round with it. I was over it within about 2 weeks.
I laid off the preworkout and went a little easier in the gym. Drank a lot of water. I kept having sex...sometimes the headache is worth it. But i would sleep after.
Blood pressure been 120/80 to 127/85. so a little higher than id like but not high enough where i would expect headaches.
Havent run bloods yet so not sure if E related. currently 7 weeks into test e 200 cruise. Would b surprised if E2.
From what im gathered neck problems seem to set them off...neck strain or minor injuries...pain in traps. Exacerbated by too much caffeine..pump supplements.
When i really had it going bad i was runing NPP at 450 a week. Nandrolones may have bad effects with some of us. Also my BP was running higher in the middle of that NPP cycle....140/80 150/90. Beet root and more water helped with BP.

Figured I'd bump this thread as I've experienced these before and just had an onset during squats two days ago.

Exertion headaches happen for me when I'm hitting squats near a failure and my neck is extended past neutral. I was on my second set of 225lbs× 20 and it was the last rep that did me in.

The pain starts somewhere around the occiput and travels up the back of my head. It's an intense pressure and is very painful. From what I've read, it happens because blood vessels are dilated beyond their normal capacities.

Once blood pressure drops the headache reduces, but the vessels susceptible to over dilation until they have had time to heal. If the headache onsets again supposedly the healing process starts all over.

I've read it can take up to two months to fully heal. I'm taking this upcoming week off and hoping it I'll be able to get right back at it.

The website below had some good information on it.

Exertion Headaches - Causes, Prevention, & Recovery

Edit- forgot to mention that the extreme headache sets in everytime I come to orgasm until it heals. FML....

@Fryguy Thanks for the bump. Hopefully someone can get some good use of this thread in future.
The training headaches are a bitch.
The orgasm headaches.....maaan, that shit really just isn't fair.
Good Luck to you and I hope you get through it quickly.
