how to lower T3

My doc wants to give me T3 to drop some fat but needs the blood test to come in so that it appears I am borderline. Anyone know how to move the number so the test shows in my favor?

Thanks

While I can't imagine a doctor going straight to t3 without trying t4 first before even considering a combo, and find it unbelievable- over train like mad and starve yourself would be my guess. But why are you wanting t3? Why not just t4 or a combo if you have a problem?
Two things that come to mind with regards to only running t3 (which no doctor would prescribe out of the gate) are that t4 has a effect on memory and brain function and therefore low t4 might have a negative effect so one would want t4 present. The other is that reverse t3 blocks the action of high t3 to normalize metabolism and isn't ideal if someone wanted superphysiological levels of t3 acting on the metabolism and reverse t3 is made from t4 so one wouldn't want t4 when t trying to take higher than normal doses of t3 but would want it for optimal well being.
Borderline can be quite optimal for some people, higher isn't always better with thyroid. If you're wanting a permanent drug protocol to shave a few pounds maybe lifestyle should be looked at first? Not trying to be a dick but you could be messing with things you might regret later.

Because TSH remains the standard screening assay for thyroid dysfunction, no further testing is indicated unless ones TSH falls outside of the lab norms, w few exceptions.

However what's even more important, you're kidding yourself should you believe taking a pill every day is the solution to weight loss.

Yea you may lose some pounds initially, but unless your LIFE STYLE improves, the results will be short lived.

Thanks Dr Jim. I know the lifestyle change. I was 320lbs and dropped to 230lbs over two years ago. I keep my blood level around 1200ng/dl consistently with pellets. I did thee small blast in the two years and gained 10lbs. of muscle. I live with D'Baby who also lives the lifestyle and prepares all my food which is spot on and we hit the gym six days a week. I can diet down and loose subcutaneous fat very easily but I look fat due to Viserile fat that does not seem to budge at all. Any suggestions would be welcome.

Not DrJim, but I might be of some sort of help. Are you sure you're talking about visceral fat or just harder to get rid of fat? As far as I know the only way to know if visceral fat is high is through a MRI or CT-scan and only checked with a large waist line. But regardless, congrats on the loss and where you're at now! I also was 320lbs but a long time ago and lost 100lbs in less than a year and thought my skin would be loose forever but wasn't. Anyway, I got to a six pack, veins on my shoulders and upper chest, skin almost paper thin and still had love handles! It took awhile to get rid of those and just seemed to be harder to drop with the rapid weight loss. Anyway, what are you talking about with visceral fat? The inner fat around your organs, or under the skin?
