hrt and osteoarthritis

A diagnosis of osteoarthritis is the latest news to come my way about the age-related degeneration of my body. Expresses itself as bony swelling in some finger joints and pain and stiffness in collar bone, lower back and neck, esp. after inactivity and esp. on damp days. Starting to stop me doing things that I like such as long walks and stuff that I need to do for my health, eg cardio. No knee pain thank god. Fuck me I'm starting to feel old.

My doc recommends I continue to lift and also drop some pounds, do yoga or some other form of stretching program, and take nsaids and accupuncture for symptomatic pain whe needed. Otherwise not much I can do about it he says.

As Buck advised me in another thread about a similar problem, I am starting glucosamine, chondroitin and MSM. And as Chip suggested, I will do ginger and turmeric and maybe cetyl myristoleate.

Aside from that, is ther anything else I can be doing. Have there been any studies about the effects of HRT (steroidal and/or HGH) on osteoarthritis?

Any leads?

I can post a link in the AM to the Endo journals where there is a ton of studies on the use of test if you are interested in digging through them.

You should be able to find many at www.pubmed.com . I also have osteoarthritis. I brought printouts of such studies to my general doctor. It was one of the primary reasons she referred me to a endocriminologist who prescribed TRT.

I've had several patients report their joints feel much better once I tune them up. I suspect the positive influences are multiactorial, ranging from mediation of inflammatory factors to subjective increases in pain threshold.
