HRT users, in general

Anyone given any thought about who we are? Are we representative of our generation? Are we all from a single generation? Is it common for people to spend as much attention to the details of HRT and TRT as we do? How many of your friends and mine would immerse themselves in the details and methods of our self-imposed healthcare? How about our spouses or signficant others or family in general--like your siblings?

By asking these questions, I am not in any way questioning the value or legitimacy of what we do. Rather, I am curious about the generality of our interests and pursuits.

Through analysis, we are ensuring that the future will be better than the present for overall society. The same thing brought the world out of the dark ages.

I could not agree more. What kind of person are you? I'm analytic. I structure my life. I try to be aware of my strengths and weaknesses. I take inventory fairly regularly. I question myself and things around me all the time. So keeping up the details of HRT is not a big problem. Now, my wife, for instance, is a different person. She is content to be told what to do and will do it unless its too complicated. She doesn't have to know all the reasons. Now that she is in the routine of the meds and supplements (when she refused to take all the supplements the doc recommended, she just stopped), she will follow the program (she allowed me to pick 3 that she would take once a day!--I figured this is a good start).

So the questions still remains, how common is the committment and focus that is necessary to do HRT/TRT right?

I don't know about that last question but I can say that for me it's purely selfish. Ok, maybe not completely. I started it for the main reason of loss of libido. Granted, lots of other things were suffering but this is what brought me to it.

Anyway, I did it for my sexual satisfaction and my wife's. As far as who I am regarding my desire to do it "right"....well, I do it because I am a very logical and analytical person as well. I'm a bit of an obsessive compulsive personality as well so I bet that comes into play too. I like to make sure things are "just so" when I do them and my TRT is one of them. You wouldn't believe how exact I try to get each dose!

Also, as to why I'm on this board (because I think that's a different aspect entirely) I want to be able to help others. I feel good when I help people out and this board is one way to do that. Also, I like to know more than my doctors do about my health!! :D It's amazing that I know more about my wife's endocrine system than her doc does!

Anyway, those are my reasons.

Who we are.

I believe we are people who are concerned about our health and
welfare. Is the rest of the world concerned ? No. Could it be
that the rest of the world ,men especially, would pay more attention
to their own health if they were better informed? Women have had
hormone replacement for years with some benefits and yes downfalls. I
believe that men in general do not like to go to the doctor. The old saying
of if it ain't broke don't fix it applies here. I did not have a clue to why I
was feeling terrible, but now I know. It was low testosterone. After a
health problem has been encountered a solution needs to be found. For
men with hypogonadism this forum meets many needs! It is filled with
tons of knowledge. I believe one day that all doctors will be educated more
on this topic and be more sensitive regarding it. I am one of the baby boomers
who had a problem with no libido and energy that is how I discovered
my problem. This forum is a god send to everyone here, so is Swale too. We each need to pass on this information to other men so they will be aware of this disease also.

I'm 19, so I'm from a different generation than most of you. I'm simply concerned with feeling and looking my age. I also strive to be the very best that I can (gym included), and when I feel tired and weak all the time it's simply not doable.

Just as a side note, I simply don't believe that "we" as members of this Board and the various other Boards out there are representative of "this TRT generation".

How many men are on TRT? Several tens of thousands? A few hundreds of thousands?

And how (relatively) few are on these Boards? I am not sure what the membership is of this Board, but one of the others that I belong to lists about 1400 members (and only a small fraction of those ever post).

So are we representative? Or are we more the advance "tip of the iceberg"? Or just ones who are more concerned (both for ourselves - and often also for others).

But still an interesting philosophical question...
