I had previously posted and have a bit of background already but failed to do so here after lurking a while and had forgotten the rules. Please forgive me, boss(es).

I’ve got issues that I am trying to correct and I’ve been in this cycle for a long time with obvious frustration. After years of following trainers and coaches around to a T with mild to no changes, I conducted a miserable experiment to find MY maintenance. For several months with one week breaks in between intervals, I ate nothing but eggs, chicken, rice and broccoli with no cooking oils or calorie-dense flavorings. Starting high, I titrated down to find that my maintenance at that time (and similar now) was 2,000cal +\- 100 in the event I’d made some error.
Yes, this “cannot” be accurate or at least it shouldn’t be. But for the sake of avoiding a debate of whether or not I know how to use my food scales after 12 years, I’ll assure that my intention is to fix this mess that is either congenital or self-made. For now, I’ll assume that I’ve wrecked my metabolism in some way from previous bad habits and the goal for now is to cut down to 220-225 and begin a slow reverse diet in an attempt to move the needle a bit because eventually these cyclical cuts become taxing mentally.
I have essentially repeated this lifestyle for most of my adult life; “suffer” the cut, blow up without structure, repeat. So I’m addressing that now.
In the background, I am working on ensuring that I am medically fine and trying to learn new avenues so that I can appropriately advocate for myself. Previously I just assumed the standard blood panels stating that I’m fine was definitive until I lurked into this world and found that well-being MAY be a little more nuanced than what an annual physical may provide.
Anyways, I’m happy to be here to pick up pieces of information so that I can research in my own way. Cheers to all the guys and gals getting better!
