I just got back from an appointment with a real HRT doctor. He spent well over an hour with me listening to my history and really understanding my situation. He asked questions, considered all my lab work, form Thyroid to Liver function considered my sleep apnea relating to my symptoms and all in all really took the time to perform a comprehensive analysis of my symptoms and talked with me about them in detail. He performed a physical examination and conveyed to me his interpretation of my physical presentation.
He listened to my theories about possible osteoporosis with my low Alkaline Phosphatase and thought it was a reasonable theory and that hed have a spine and hip bone density done to see if we need to treat osteoporosis in my case.
He also wasnt not adverse to hCG therapy. He didnt quite understand my recommendation about the low dose of 250-500 IU twice a week with Testosterone replacement but he said he actually has someone who takes both Testosterone and hCG. He did comment that using both did make sense in treating Hypogonadism just from a cost basis alone since hCG is expensive and combining Test and hCG would significantly reduce the cost of just doing hCG alone. My impression is that he was NOT against hCG, he was open minded about it. He said that well see how I do when he gets my T up and take it from there.
He also said something that was awesome. He made a comment about everyone being different. Some men can get by fine with 300 or 400 T while others need over 800 to feel good its all about how you feel. He treats the symptoms and not the numbers!!!
He was surprised that I didnt have any refills on my Androgel prescription and gave me a coupon for a free 30 day supply of Androgel and was going to call in his prescription to my pharmacy so I wouldnt run out of Androgel before he saw me next.
I can go on...
Can I be so lucky to get a doc like this out of the blue so early in my treatment???
Im feeling like I just hit the California mega-lotto jackpot considering the horror stories Ive heard on these boards about doctors!!! Im not counting my sheep yet but it sure looks good!
