Hello Meso community,
I am 5'10", M, 48 years old and just recently started TRT. Before TRT, I had a very poor outlook on life and thought many times that my health might never improve. There were many days I would think this might be the day for a heart attack or stroke. I kept hearing about testosterone replacement therapy but never thought it might be something I would need. Once I started reading about the symptoms, I decided to go to the doctor and request bloodwork to get my hormones checked. My total testosterone was low but within guidelines (375 ng/dL) but my free test was out of range low (4.5pg/mL). My doctor prescribed diet and exercise and said he would retest in 2 months. I left that appointment very disappointed. I ended up making an appointment with a urologist because I could tell my doctor didn't look at TRT favorably. The earliest appointment with the urologist was not going to be for another 3 months, so I decided to go to a TRT clinic. I was tired of feeling like crap and did not want to wait 2 or 3 months to feel better. The TRT clinic reviewed my bloodwork from my primary care physician and we talked about my symptoms and after running their own in house bloodwork, they prescribed me 160mg/wk test cyp.
Before starting TRT I was also researching glp-1 medications because of my weight (260 lbs) and pre-diabetic glucose blood results (107 mg/dL). I came across Retatrutide and became very interested due to the success people were have losing weight and for the unexpected benefits it showed with reducing liver issues. My liver enzymes have been high for years; the last bloodwork showed (ALT 151 unit/L) (AST 59 unit/L). I initially order some Reta from a website so I could do some "research". It was expensive, but it has been worth it. My glucose is better. My liver enzymes are also greatly improved; my AST is within range now (32 unit/L) and the ALT is almost in range (65 unit/L). This morning I weighed 226 lbs. That is almost 40 lbs in 3 months. Reta has decreased my cravings and I no longer binge eat.
I am a veteran, so I have been in shape at least once in my life, but when I started this health journey, I could only do about 25 pushups at a time. I had the desire to workout, but I could never seem to do anything about it. Now, I am up to 50 pushups at a time and do 3 sets of 40, 6-7 nights a week. I also have a lot of dumbbells that I mess around with. I have been watching videos to develop a routine and learn proper form so I don't hurt myself. I would like to start going to the gym, but I am slightly anti-social and have anxiety about going. If I go once, I will probably be gtg.
I have been lurking here for a couple of months and admittedly only found the community because I was trying to find a cheaper source for Retatrutide. I am glad I found the forum because I find it to be entertaining and informative. I also really like that there is a focus on harm reduction; otherwise I might be tempted to start a cycle with my limited knowledge. I have made some purchases from the vendors, but wish I would have take the time to learn more because I have stuff I probably don't need. There is a ton of knowledge here and I am learning to use the search function, but sometimes I feel like participating, so I figured I better introduce myself.
One more thing... today I actually just had my appointment with the urologist and to my surprise, they agreed to manage my TRT. I thought they would scoff at me for going to a clinic, but after explaining how I felt before treatment and the progress I have made, I guess there was never a doubt for them. I didn't have to beg or anything, but there was an awkward moment when she wanted me to drop my pants so she could inspect my gonads and poke her finger in my rectum. I guess that cherry is broke. I am glad it was a female and not some dude with sausage fingers. If you made it this far, thank you for reading. Feel free to ask questions.
