Just curious. from reading a bit i can gather that Ma Huang is the name of the plant that ephedra is derived from. However the information also made mention of other alkaloids from this plant, so im not if the two are the same or if ephedra is an alkoloid of Ma Huang. There is a product that was on the shelves here which proclaimed to have ephedra extract in it. Now the labelling has change to read Ma Huang extract. Is it the same?

ephedra is the name for herbal forms of ephedrine.... ephedra is an extract of ma huang...it consists of ephedrine, psuedoephedrine ...etc... i prefer ephdrine hydrochloride myself, as its still available in the US, whereas ephedra has been removed from the market....if i were gonna buy ephedra or ma huang i would find a brand that has a standardized extract equal to 20mg of mixed alkaloids
