JS 5x5 and curls

This isnt a typical bicep question. Im a competive armwrestler and we armwrestle 1xevery 2 wks. I have to keep my arm strength up and Im wondering if you guys would recomend the 5x5 for heavy barbell curls 1xwk to keep my arm strength/size climbing in addition to the regular program. Ill only be doing 5 sets of bicep work a wk other then the actual armwrestling practice. What are you guys thoughts on this? Thanks in advance
