L Carnatine 500mg/ml cloudy?

So I brewed up some L carnatine last night. Its became slightly cloudy after cooling off. Is this normal?

How did you filter?
Which brewing process did you use?

Recipe was for 100ml. So 50g L Carnatine,1.5ml BA,and the rest distilled water.

Warmed on a coffee warmer and mixed for about an hour inside a media bottle. Drawn out with a 10ml syringe and filtered through a .1um wattman syringe filter.


It became cloudy after cooling down.

This seems to be a common recipe so im wondering if the cloudiness is normal.

Yes from pure bulk. I hear its kinda desirable for this kinda thing.

Edit: Im using large 50ml vials to store it in. In a 10ml syringe it looks totally clear. In the larger vial theres something of a haze.

Mine is crystal clear also.

Something is wrong. I wouldn't use it. I would brew another batch.

What was the temperature when you filtered? I hope you didn't melt the filter.

Maybe you melt the filter and you started with the 50ml vials (so temperature was highest)?

I would not use 50ml vials for anything tho. Stopper will be fucked up and risk of infections go up.

Brew another batch. I dont remember using heat with Lcarnitine but I brewed 200ml for myself couple months ago so that could be another source of error- doesnt explain why with 50ml and not with 10ml.

I actually just store brews in the 50ml vials. I withdraw them in 10ml syringes and backfill smaller .5ml 27g syringes for daily doses. So I have a big 10-ml Test 300 syringe, another with NPP 150. The 50ml vial get punctured a max of 5 times before becoming empty and thrown away.

Probably overheated, most comments I read had to do with that and when you add the BA can't remember if it was before or after.

Yeah I guess I'll try again. Not sure what I can change to fix this. My NPP forms little feathery structures when cold, that vanish with the tiniest amount of warming. Its at some kinda solution equilibrium or something. But I dunno. Guess I'll try again with the other 50g im sitting on.

I didn't use any heat with L-Carn so I'm wondering if @muscletrain might have a point about overheating. Something worth considering.

Can confirm my 750mg/mL brew turned cloudy when added BA(1%) to hot solution.

Let it cool, refiltered, added another .9%BA just in case - now crystal clear, no issues pinning.

I was originally using these yellow chinese .22um filters and I dont think they work. Got a pretty bad infection in both butt cheeks from gear filtered with those. The Amazon filters I linked are definitely legit.

I’ve brewed several thousand ml of carnitine and I have never heated up one batch
