the lab charge my ins co around 1500 for the lab work and the ins co disallowes 1300 of it. its such a rip off cause if the ins co doesnt have to pay it why should the common person w/ no ins have to pay that much. I know I didnt really help you and its more of a rant but I had to get it off my chest again

while you got prices from different labs, you need to ask what the lab and your ins. co. have worked out. The lab may have a negotiated price with your ins. co. that is lower that what they quoted you. The lab may have negotiated a preferred provider agreement with the ins. These are given for volume.

shi at local clinit cost me either $100 for IGF and thyroid for HGH or $200 for thriod and all your Testerterone. probably cheaper if you call the lab yourself which I'm going to do. Like LABCORP etc..

Go with LEF as earthdog recommended.

I used Quest before it cost me $1,500 for about 6 different hormones. With LEF I had way more test done for about $600.

One more thing sign up for the membership, its well worth it.

I get very upset over labs tests. The list prices are a total scam. With my insurance, if the labs aren't billed THROUGH the physician, then I have to pay the deductible first. Not knowing this, my first set of labs came in at $500. But it wasn't a big deal. Why? Because the insurance companies negotiated rates for those labs charged at $500 was only $49. The insurance company responded to the lab with 'this is the patient's responsibility, but here is out negotiated rates that you must bill the patient instead of your list prices.'

I called around and found a doctor that billed the lab costs themselves for which my insurance pays the bill without the deductable, even though the negotiated prices are exactly the same. Very stupid.

The list prices are totally unfair to those without insurance and it is difficult to get pricing information ahead of time. They should at least disclose the prices prior to performing the blood test.
