[SIZE=-1]The former head of World Wrestling Entertainment[/SIZE][SIZE=-1], and a front-runner in Connecticut's Republican Senate primary, says WWE steroid testing was warranted.[/SIZE]

[SIZE=-1]Former WWE head Linda McMahon has become a front-runner in the primary after the exit of two major rivals from the race, The Hill newspaper reported.[/SIZE]

[SIZE=-1]McMahon's race is being helped by her fat bank account, and her remaining opponents increasingly will focus on where the money comes from -- the WWE, The Hill said.[/SIZE]

[SIZE=-1]The newspaper said Congress is close to looking into the WWE's ties to steroids, and professional wrestling has been troubled in recent years by the deaths of several superstars.[/SIZE]

[SIZE=-1]In a lengthy interview with The Hill, McMahon, married to current WWE Chairman Vince McMahon, conceded steroids were a significant problem when WWE relaunched its testing program in 2006. She said wrestling[/SIZE]
[SIZE=-1]never relied on drugs.[/SIZE]

[SIZE=-1]The steroid testing program is "as good as it can be for today," she told The Hill. "But as technology advances and more is known and developed, we'll continue to develop our policy, as we have done over the years."[/SIZE]
