Managing My Hypertension

Morning All,

I'm look for some information to help me manage My Hypertension.

Prior to starting TRT some years ago, I had low blood pressure.

The doctor gave me Natrilix SR and it made me feel down, symptoms include depression, mood changes, sexual dysfunction, libido change and gastro problems.

I asked, as I now do with all drug, about side effects, he told me none that would cause any problems for me.
Silly me did not check for my self until I felt like shit.

I took myself off them and went to see him A.S.A.P, he said that he did not think they would cause me any problems and gave me a script for Avapro 150.

Well here I am a few weeks down the track and I feel worse now then I did NatrilixSR.

I have got to where I am sick of being like this.

Is there no better drug or do all Hypertension drugs do this?

Thanks,
Albert.

Thanks Phil.

Phil did you see this quote in that article,
"Carlos Ferrario M.D. states the results of the study also points to the finding that hypertensive drugs do not caused by hypertensive drugs, but is in fact a part of the disease process itself. He feels that the major contributor to impotence in hypotensive men is angiotensin."

That bit lost me?

I tried Viagra, only to waste my money and end up with higher blood pressure.

Thanks,
Albert.

I stated "Prior to starting TRT".

I now have HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE, yes "Hypertension".

Albert.

Albert: What is your TRT regimen like? Are you getting blood tests to ensure that testosterone, estrogens, etc are all adjusted appropriated?

My understanding is that many high blood pressure medications have side effects for many people, but that there are quite a few blood pressure medications available. It is often a matter of simply having to keep trying different blood pressure medications until you find one that is right for you.

the latest 5 year study

in Europe finds amlopidine and perindropil to be the most effective combination. Diuretics have a lot of side effects. the perindropil is an angiotensin II inhibitor and protective of the kidneys . Angiotensin inhibitors can even stop protein leakage from the kidneys.

Ahhh! Got ya!

I think part of the advice already given is very sound....I can't comment on the BP meds as I've never been on them. But definitely make sure your TRT is dialed in properly. I have heard of some men getting high BP from the excess water in their system from excess T. What have your levels been this whole time? Also, just curious, what's your BP like when on and off of meds?

My understanding is that higher BP with TRT comes from increased salt retention causing edema which obviously can raise BP. I have high BP so this is an important concern for me. I use a beta-blocker and ACE Inhibitor at relatively low doses to keep my BP in check but Im monitoring my BP closely as I start into my TRT journey. I also have sleep apnea which I also am watching very closely.

We should also make the point that some people may start to, or have an exacerbation of, sleep apnea once TRT is started. Sleep Apnea alone can cause high blood pressure so if someone has high blood pressure and is on TRT it might be worth seeing if you have sleep apnea as a potential contributor to, or cause of, your high blood pressure.

Thanks Guys,

I knew I could get some good answers from here.

Ok, a little background, had chemo 18 plus years ago and it been down hill from there.
Finally found a doctor who would treat me as a person and not just tell me it's all in my head and give me only anti-depressants.

Been using Sustanon 250, 1 ml every 14 days(.5 ml a week) for several years, I have just changed to Testogel, still adjusting it.

I have tried other BP meds, but I think they where in the same class as I had the same problems.

I am not happy with the doctors answer as to why my blood pressure has risen so high in the last few years, I don't think your getting older is a suitable answer.

I have an appointment to see the doctor in a few weeks and I think he's going to be ask a few more questions.......

Thanks,
Albert.
