Melanotan 1 & 2

Anyone here have experience with Melanotan? I'm interested in trying Melanotan 1 as it seems to do the same stuff as Melanotan 2 without the extra side effects/libido effects, plus it has a decent amount of research behind it/FDA approved.

My skin tans rather well but I also have a lot of freckles/moles, I'd probably use a very low dose to start. Only concern is developing melanoma as my mom had it when she was young, not sure if it would help or hurt in that area the information seems a bit mixed. Did any of you develop a lot of new freckles/moles at a low dose and do you think it helps or hurts in the case of potential skin cancers?

It is hard to find unbiased information, hoping to hear your experiences both good and bad.

I am not a big fan of Tony Huge but him and Leo discuss this in the linked video:

But they speak specifically to the risk of melanoma for MT2 use vs UV radiation exposure (traditional tanning). The hypothesis is that DNA damage by UV radiation would be more likely to lead to development of melanoma vs oxidative and metabolic stress of the melanocytes induced by Mt2 use at a moderate level.

I'm guessing in the mt2/mt1 use they are also considering some sunlight to aid in the tanning and then comparing that to the amount of tanning needed without mt at all. It seems this is the general consensus. I plan to ask my derm about mt today, afamelantotide aka mt1 is a fda approved drug although I won't be able to get it prescribed the derm may atleast know some info on it and can guide me in harm mitigation advice.

You should watch the video. They literally address your question directly i.e. is taking mt2 and not tanning in a bed more healthy than tanning via uv exposure.

Edit: they also address the melanoma issue directly in this comparison. I also have family history of melanoma so this was of personal interest to myself as well.

to me they just seem on the fence, leaning towards the good side instead of more time tanning which could make sense. I talked to my derm who didn't know shit about it. he just said increasing melanocyte proliferation raises risk but that being said, so does being in the sun.

what did you end up deciding regarding mt1/mt2? do you use them? I'm thinking of running a very low dose of mt1 and testing my luck. plan to do a bit more research first I think. I think ill run it and see if i notice many new/concerning moles/freckles or any changes in existing ones. I do think at a low enough dose I may be able to mitigate some of these issues, it seems many people run high doses when it probably isn't needed.

Yeah so I found that I take MT2 about 4 times a week at .5mg and I'm really tan in the middle of winter with no real sun exposure. I also avoid tanning beds for the same concerns regarding melanoma.

I literally get comments every day about how tan I am lol. The nausea is not bad once you are on a maintenance dose in my experience. Plus the extra boners are always cool

I use mt2 250mcg once a week and tan twice a week and im going to have to quit tanning because im getting too dark. I did a loading phase of 250mcg every day for 2 weeks to start before going to a maintenance phase. I got a couple freckles that definitely darkened up and a couples moles that darkened up too but if you’re increasing melanin that’s kind of a given. And just fyi I’m normally pasty white and burn pretty bad. I’ve never been able to use a tanning bed without frying until I started mt2.

For me I used 250mcg per day MT2 for 5 days, now I have the right tone so just 125 mcg E/O, only sides were some sun spots and tiny moles.

So I’m my interest on this is very new. Mt1 will darken skin like mt2? I’ve always thought mt1, pretty much just gave you boners while mt2 gave you boners and darkened skin

I don’t think mt1 gives you boners but I could be wrong. Mt2 will definitely give you both.

Yep same but I do 0.2 daily for insulin sensitivity and fat loss and get dark af 2 weeks into doing this dose no sunbed or sun exposure love it

Only downside is mt2 thickens the skin given more a dehydration aged wrinkly look but we all will age anyway

if You look at certain black people very dark black people the skin is thick corse and more dehydrated wrinkly looking just high melanin

Found some interesting information on Melanotan, mostly geared towards melanotan-1 but there is info on both.

This quote below speaks on cancer risk:

"Recent review articles on molecular signalling pathways in melanoma development no longer indicate that the αMSH/melanocortin-1 receptor (MC1R) intracellular signalling pathway has melanoma-inducing or promoting activities.35, 36 In contrast, low activity MC1R variants are associated with increased risk of sporadic melanoma37-40 which indicates that decreased and not increased MC1R signalling is associated with melanoma development. Moreover, melanocyte stem cells and therefore most likely also melanoma stem cells, the latter being crucial for melanoma promotion, do not express MC1R and therefore do not react to αMSH analogues."

I've never had any experience with MT1--mainly because I've never actually saw any anywhere--but I would give it a shot if the negative side effects were less drastic than with MT2. I started loading with MT2 last week because it's been sunny and hot as balls down here where I'm from (fucking climate change), but I definitely used a hair too much the first time I pinned it. I stuck 10 units, and around 3-4 hours later, I got the most random, uncalled-for, inappropriate boner ever in the middle of fucking Walmart. I did the waist tuck trick from middle school and got the hell up out of there. My ding-a-ling was hard as a rock for a good 6 hours and was in pretty bad pain before it went down. Then it hurt for 2 days straight and I was afraid I had did some type of damage to him. Thank God, though, everything is functioning properly and no pain to be reported. It's still scary to have an erection that long. I don't think this needs to be said, but I will say it anyway..start low and go slow. Your penis will thank you.

LMAO thats crazy man, it is definitely a side effect of MT2. You are lucky that you didn't get any damage usually they say go to the hospital after 4 hours of an erection otherwise your penile tissue can die.

Man, look. I thought about it long and hard (haha), but the embarrassment of having to ask my wife to take me to the ER for that reason was too much. My pride got in the way on that one. Now if it ever happens again…I’m gone like a mo fo. Don’t give a shit. Fix my dick before it stops working. Hard lesson learned…literally.

So many dick jokes.

Hey bro was this once a week dosing too?

I have been using mt2 and it works well. I take it at night before bed to deal with the nausea and random hard-ons. Only issue is areas of hyperpigmentation of a few areas (melasma?). I am incredibly dark though. Plus a ton of freckles appearing. Heard mt1 has less melasma and freckling but haven’t used it before.
