Neosporin Before Injection

I've seen a few posts lately on pinning and some members having redness or soreness or some other issues like possible infections.

So I was curious does anyone here use an antibiotic cream and apply it to the area before injection? I've always wondered about this but because I pin daily I'm not sure if it's safe to use an antibiotic cream everyday.

I would love to hear everyone's thoughts and opinions on this idea for everyday use.

Ointments are an over complication. 70% alcohol wipes or cotton ball/pad. Not 92%. I think the reason people are posting about this is the slight anesthetic effect in Neosporin. Just a bad idea

That is a ridiculous idea. Hygiene is the best method. If you want to be super safe clean the skin with soap and hot water (shower), dry it, alcohol wipe, let alcohol fully dry, only use fresh needles and discard needle after 1 use.

Redness and swelling are associated with infection but can happen for many reasons. It just means the area is irritated. Likely is is a reaction to the compounds in the oil, or the oil itself and doesn't mean bacteria has anything to do with it.

Just use this… ull be fine… wont feel a thing…

That actually might be a good idea for things that tend to give nasty pip like glutathione, thanks!

One ignored element to pip reduction is using a very high quality syringe.

A well made needle looks smooth and polished under a microscope, the cheap ones look like a fucking serrated knife or the surface of the moon. The crappy ones grab and tear tissue on the way in and out.

FDA even issued a warning about some cheap Chinese needle tips breaking off inside patients, often without it being realized.

Once you use a high quality pin, like a BD Precisionglide or BD Veo insulin pin, and go back to a cheap one, the difference becomes immediately apparent. Quality needles are usually the same or only slightly more $, but just a little harder to source than Amazon.

Look at this piece of crap with some excess metal left inside just waiting to bust off into your muscle:

"Why's my delt been sore on and off for weeks?"

Going to sound off my rocker to most but take Benadryl prior. Helps reduce the itching, swelling and pain post injection if you’re having some issues.

The infections/soreness aren't from poor injection technique most of the time. The problem is shit gear, or whoever is brewing it is using too much solvent. A topical antibiotic cream is useless.
