Neural tension in hip flexor

I have a numb spot on my right hip flexor

Didn't loose any strength. Seems like the nerve affected is only tactile, not motor.

Creates a burning sensation when I stretch

Went to my orthopedist and he suggested I over tensioned a nerve while stretching or training

Part of my training is somewhat gymnastics-ish (aerial straps), and for that I go to flexibility and contortion classes.

Because the muscle does not seem be affected I'm not worried about this but I would like to heal it.

Dr. told me nerves are different than tissue and it's hard to estimate heeling.

My physical therapist needled the area and cupped my quad. Said my right quad is tighter.

That did help some, and I could tell a difference in the way my quad felt after needling.

Has anyone had a nerve problem like this before and did you find anything that helped heal it other than time?

I'd throw some ice on the area for a bit prior to stretching and see if it helps. If it does, it's likely some kind of local inflammation and gives you a direction for treatment.

If the ice doesn't help at all, you can try heat to relax the area around the nerve a bit and see what gives. Oddly enough, a local inflammatory cream/gel could be useful if either of the above are true.

If you don't get relief for either, more stretching and recovery would be a good place to start. I dunno if there are nerve glide exercised for that area specifically, but may be worth looking into before going to something like gabapentin if it's severe enough.

I kinda hought the same and got some voltaren gel. I also have some muscle relaxers and celebrex (oral nsaid) on hand. I think I'll start a regimen of celebrex twice a day, voltaren gel 3-4 times a day, and a muscle realxer at night. Heat in the morning before getting going and before activity.

I'll see if I can find any hip flexor nerve glide movements on youtube.
