New lunch ideas

alright boys I need some help , I’ve been eating 3 McDoubles for lunch for a while now because I have very little spare time to meal prep . Is there any fast simple foods I could be having instead to get around the same amount of protein but not be processed and gross as fuck . Thank you

If you want a way to heat up your lunch, I suggest one of these for your car:

Amazon.com: mini hot logic

You can heat up pretty much anything you want... I like lean ground beef, peppers and rice. It's cheap and about as easy to cook as it gets. You can throw it all in a big pan and hop in shower... Very little time required. Slow cooker is another option.

If you're buying lunch, Chipotle is the best place in my area that fits my nutritional goals.

Consider lunch being a heavy shake and shifting whole food elsewhere in the diet. Working demanding jobs can be a PITA for dietary needs, but where there’s a will there’s a way. Just don’t overdo it on shakes.

I’ve done chipotle for a bit as well but that gets expensive for an everyday lunch, I’ll look into that link you sent me after work sir thank you

See that’s actually something I was considering , I was thinking of a shake with like 2 scoops of whey , milk, and a cup of oats . Just wasn’t sure if it was a good idea to have a shake every single day for lunch . I know it’s frowned upon to get your protein from a shake .

Not frowned upon at all. Just want to make sure the majority of your caloric intake is whole food based. They’re great for guys like you with work obstacles.

Well today I took your advice and just packed a protein shaker with some scoops of whey and a cup of oats and had that for lunch , just as filling as those shitty processed burgers but without feeling guilty and gross after . You comment on a lot of my threads I make , your a pretty helpful guy for me haha

I do heavy highway construction and this is how I heat up my prepped meal. You plug the minilogic into your cigarette lighter about a half hour before eating. Your car doesnt have to be running and it doesnt drain the battery. I love this thing. I was so tired of eating cold meals.

There are no excuses to not be able to est properly if it is a priority to you. That's all it will be is an excuse. Where there is will there is a way. Just gotta work a little harder or utilize your time better. I am married with 2 kids, I work 55 hours a week minimum, random nights, doubles, weekends and have a 1 hour commute each way. Everyday I still make time for the gym and my meals.

People at work think I'm a lunatic. But guess what? I am!!!

I was doing a lot of driving for meetings last summer... Really, the only place that was convenient on my trips was Burger King. I ate there several times and, even now, the thought of BK turns my stomach.

I found one of these and never looked back. I thought about buying them for other employees that travel for meetings because it's so much healthier and saves you money compared to eating on the road. I didn't figure they'd ever change their ways though... Too lazy to put food in a Tupperware before coming to work.

Shakes and oats are great. I’d actually have raw oats in a bag with some cinnamon that I’d snack on throughout the day.

Canned vegetables and tuna with the pop tops or bring a can opener. 2-3 cans of tuna with some black pepper and Italian dressing, not the best tasting thing but it works. I’ve done the same for refried beans. prep some cooked veggies and hot sauce or salsa, pop the can open at work and mix it all in a bowl. Again, It’s not the best tasting thing to eat at room temp but it works.

I’d say healthy soups but canned soup gets expensive.

I’ve been doing the whey protein and oats with almond milk , it’s simple and taste good . I’m not picky with food , when I find something simple and cheap to eat I’ll eat it everyday idc about changing things up when it comes to food . Thanks for all the advice though guys . The box that heats up food looks awesome but sadly won’t work for me consistently because lots of my jobs are in Boston and I don’t have a car with me to use it , I take the train when working there .

They make one that you can plug into a standard outlet, I'm sure there is electric on your jobs.

Mine is actually meant for a standard wall outlet and I use an inverter in my vehicle. I bought the regular one by mistake and it was cheaper to just buy an inverter instead of paying to ship it back and buy the right one.

I used to keep cans of tuna, whey, hardboiled eggs at work and just eat something reasonable from the take out (chicken gyro or something) and then supplement it with a little legit clean protein. Usually 150-200 calories of clean protein can balance the macros of a 600~ calorie lunch item as long as it's not cheese fries or something.

it's easy just to keep that kind of stuff around and also you still get to participate in the ritual of leaving work for lunch.

For example: instead of 3 mcdoubles, which is something like 1,200 cal, get 2 mcdoubles and eat 3 hardboiled eggs + a 200 calorie protein shake. Same amount of calories, you're cutting down on how much of your lunch is "bad" by 33%, and the ratios go from pretty bad to pretty damn decent.
