I have been training off and on for 20 years so I am not a beginner. I understand all the basic concepts and am familiar with most exercises. I had a great lifting and cardio program that was working well for me before I got injured.

Before my injury I was 185 lbs & 9% bf at 5'9". My program consisted of a 5 day weight lifting split: Chest - Back - Legs - Shoulders - Arms. And a 6 day a week cardio program that rotated HIT sessions with medium intensity sessions.

I have since had multiple knee surgeries. My doctor says one more knee injury and I'm looking at a knee replacement. I have attempted to come back and have gained back most of my strength but my knee will not allow me to do any sustained cardio on consecutive days. My legs are strong as I can squat 315 lbs and leg press 900 lbs, but I can't do the required cardio to lose the body fat and gained about 60 lbs.
I am looking for some type of cardio program that I can do with a bad knee that will be sufficient enough for me to lose what I have gained since my surgery. I have no cartilage left in my knee so anything with impact is bone on bone and causes a lot of swelling. Running, stairmaster, and elipticals really bother me. The bike bothers me too at higher intensities. I can do those things in small amounts with a few days of rest in between but it's not sufficient for losing body fat. Is there some type of cardio program based on weights that I can incorporate into my weight routine so I can get lean again?
Thanks for your help!

Welcome!
tough issues with the knee, bone on bone? ouch! Cardio with a bad knee.......... Olympic type swimming??? I read where Michael Phelps took in more than 6,000 calories per day when training for the Olympics.

I'd have to walk for a couple of hours just to burn a reasonable amount of calories. I would still have issues even after only a few days of walking.

I know there are some people who do next to no traditional cardio and yet are very lean from the way they lift and diet. That is waht I am looking for. I can even add some traditional cardio to that in small doses of something like 20 minutes 2-3 times a week to make it more effective, but my days of running/stepping/biking for 90 minutes a day 5 or 6 days a week are over.

Hi Alex, how clever coming up with this intro. Why do you keep coming back and hounding people? You need a life and go get some help you need it.

In other words, GTFO.
