Nike Metcon 2 or Nike Zoom Hypercross TR2

Anyone have one or both of these shoes?? I need a shoe that I can do squats in and walk/run (mostly walk) on the treadmill.

Metcon 2 is Nike 2nd attempt at a Crossfit shoe. It seems like it would be a good shoe for squats and still handle treadmill work. The little thing in the back is for doing hand stand press against the wall....whatever you call 'em.

Zoom Hypercross TR2 has some kinda crazy hexagonal feature on the bottom. Which could be a problem for squats, but might be awesome on the treadmill.

They are really lightweight and imo the best lookin' of the two. Black, gray, and white.

Which one would you guys go with?? Please don't say both. Lol

Adidas Powerlift 2.0

Yeah I've seen those....probably too advanced for me. I just started doing squats a little over 7 weeks after not doing 'em for 15yrs. Maybe in a yr or so I'll get some like that...I've heard they can add 10-20lbs to your squat.

Btw if you're still interested in adex from Pharmacom I'll be getting blood work done this next week.

Yes, yes I am :)

Thank you

That's not a bad idea....thanks bro!! I'm always impressed by your posts.

What's the bottom of that first one look like? I may have been mistaken about it. I thought it was the one with the crazy bottom and the second ones looked like they were heavily padded, too. Those first ones might be okay.

If they're flat and without padding they're likely good for squats. Maybe not so much for running though.

They're suppose to have excellent grip.

Go with reebok nano 5.0 good for treadmill and HIIT and is a thin hard sole so you can squat and deadlift with them too. Excellent grip as well and you can custom make your own on the rebook site of you feel so inclined :D

I wouldn't squat in anything with running type cushion like the second shoe. I have the metcon 1s and they are perfect for what you want. You probably won't find a better shoe outside of that or a reebok nano for weightlifting, running, plyometrics and rope climbing all in one.

Only other shoe I would use would be specific to Olympic or Power Lifts, romaleos and chucks respectively.

Yeah I think the Metcon 2 will work just fine. I'm not gonna be setting any records for squats. If they don't, I'll get some Chucks.

I'm heavy into traditional lifting and Crossfit. To me the Nike Flywire is a superior quality shoe for everything but squats, DLs and other heavy lifts.

So if I'm doing those kinds of lifts, I wear the less comfortable Reebok nano 5.0, and it does a good job of keeping me in my heels.

They aren't "great" for running, but they get the job done.

Since you won't be doing a shitload of running the 5.0. should be an all around good shoe, and keep you from squatting into your toes.

Hi. As someone who works for Nike directly, I would not recommend either of these shoes. To be honest I would not recommend Nike at all. The quality is complete shit. Addidas definitely has better quality. If I were to recommend Nike, I would recommend the Nike Romaleos 2, specifically designed for weight lifting. Good luck brother.

Wow. Really?? Well I just ordered the Metcon 2 on Thursday. If I don't like 'em I can return 'em. I've always wore Nike's. The last/current pair I have is the Dual Fusion Training Shoe and yeah they haven't lasted very long...like 5 months. The treadmill tears the shit outta shoes. I also have a pair of Invo-8's Bare, but man they have zero cushioning (I guess that's where the name Bare comes from Lol) and they kill me on just walking on the treadmill.

Thanks

How bout hooking me up with a discount code?? :)

The quality used to be great, until they changed the materials they used. They are always trying to find ways to make their production cheaper. As for the discount code, I work for the Nike headquarters in Europe, got transferred here last August. The European discount codes will not work in the US, and vice versa. But to be honest if you complain enough they will give you whatever you want. If I still worked in the US I would hook you up.

But a little trick that is helpful is that they will accept returns on worn out shoes for up to 2 years from your purchase date on the receipt. Or if you lose the receipt, they go from 2 years from the manufacturing date on the tag on the inside of the tongue. The date on the right hand side to be exact. So in all actuality I haven't paid for a pair of shoes in 4 years since I started working for them. My shoes usually wear out after 3 months, and I just return them for a refund and then order a new pair. Just give them a call or go on their live chat on Nike.com and tell them you are annoyed that the shoes didn't last longer than a few months. They will refund you fully.

Thanks brother!! Tbh these Dual Fusion have really sucked. The right one, which is my bigger foot, has been f-ed up. Its like its a 12 and its suppose to be an 11 1/2. Loose as shit...no matter how tight I tie the laces. Left one fits ok...really weird. I got 'em from Amazon, but I'll definitely hit up nike.com and let 'em know what's up.

Thanks again.
