Ok, here goes...

48yrs old
6'1"
285lbs

I am fat but I hold my weight very well. Problem is my knees are starting to get bad. I'm sure that's due to my weight. But because of bad knees I'm having a hard time exercising without pain. I can do it but after a few days I'm just really soar and borderline pain. So after talking to a friend who is my age and he did 2 cycles he looked good and cut weight plus his joints didn't hurt. I would like to discuss with him but at this time we are not talking. I had to let him go from work due to reduction if manpower. Anyway...

I would like to hear from you guys that might have gone down my path before me and can tell me that I'm crazy to think this way or "this is how I did it."

I would like to:
  • Cut weight - Rehab my body due to age.
  • Use them for helping with the joint pain for workout.
  • Build strength and muscle to replace what I lost due to age.
  • Gain muscle to and get fit..
I am not looking to compete or anything like that. I want to get some mass and definition. I'm not afraid to work at it but I do know that I need something to offset age....

Can any of you help?

Thanks for reading.

How's your diet first off? This will be the most important part of your weight loss. What kind of training program are you following? Is form good on everything involving knees?

You may put yourself at a higher risk for injury starting a cycle too soon due to your body not being acclimated to the strength increases you are likely to get.

I too was thinking about using some deca for joints, until I was told it doesn't do much other than mask some pain, which would make me work them harder and possibly make things worse.

I was surprised that when I cut my weight down how much better everything felt, along with the exercise.

I perasonally know someone with rheumatoid arthritis that lost weight and started lifting and doing low impact cardio that is almost completely off meds now.

You need to start with your diet. You have to find out how many calories you need to maintain weight and cut them drastically. You need to eat whole foods like chicken, turkey, fish. lean beef, and vegetables pretty much only... No more chips, soda, fast food. And the sauces you put on your food are full of empty calories like ridiculously full.

You need to figure out what 70-80% of your maximum heart rate should be for your age and find a low impact cardio machine and start owning its ass! 30-45min ed or eod. Add in some fast paced circuit training meaning short to no rest between exercises and work in the 12 rep range for 30 minutes eod. The weight will melt off quick!

80% of the work is going to be your strict dieting. Weights and exercise won't fix fat if your diet sucks. Motivation is what is between you and your best version of you!

Like everyone said already , eat clean for a couple weeks and you will see fat loss. Also as for cardio if I had bad joints I would stick to swimming if possible , it burns a lot of calories and its not hard on the joints

Diet is key here not aas. Losing fat is not hard it just takes commitment. Jumping right to aas is foolish and something kuds do for the shortcut. It took you years to get where you are you arent going to turn it around overnight.

As a guy the same age. I highly recommend you get bw done. You may have low test etc. Get a full hormone panel. If your test is low trt will help in your endeavor. For now get in the gym and work on your diet

I do have low Test. Doc wanted to put me on Andro-gel... Everything I've seen about this stuff is no good. Is there an alternative to the Gel?

I personally dont like the gel. But would you rather have low test?

I gotta ask. You are here talking about aas and cycles but you are unsure if there is an alternative to test gel? You didnt do any research ill assume as there are a few alternatives that would have popped up in a 30 second search

Ok so Diet, been doing that now for 3months. I've dropped 30lbs and I feel like I have lost all of my strength.. SO let's say in 3months time I want to start s cycle. What would be a suggestion.

Yes you are right. THe problem with searching is you seem to get about 200 different answers from people. I am looking for suggestions on what to use so I can start my research from there. I'm not sold yet on gear but it's an option on the table for me.

Dude im all for helping out and people have given you sound advice. Mine was dead on with trt but you dont seem to be interested.

Youre asking to be spoon fed like a kid. Youre 48. Man up and research. And get the fucking test from the dr. That alone will help you a lot
