Pain In Hips From Deadlift

about six months ago I started doing deadlifts controllably moving up in weight. I have experienced great gains from this exercise doing them once a week. I have however this pain in my hips not during workouts but only when sitting down like in the car. It won't go away. I have had some guys watch my form to see if it needed work and I got positive reinforcement saying that it looked good. I also know a guy who used to powerlift very strong on the deadlift like 750 and he says that the hip pain has happened to him as well as many others? I'm looking for some input on this valuable exercise anyone have any suggestions?

it's probably the tendons in your hip joints lagging behind your muscles, make sure you stretch before and after you deadlift, especially after, a good stretch for the hip joint is sit on a bench with one foot ontop of the opposite knee and gently push down on the crossed leg, this always helps me, and make sure you also stretch your groin

That's good advise... especially the stretching afterward. You may also want to play with your stance a little. I've found personally that the hip pain went away with a little narrower stance, and extreme stretching afterward.
