Parent/Teacher Conferences

Just had another yesterday. I still have trouble believing I am the parent and in the seat listening about my kid. Seems like I should still be outside playind and wondering how much trouble I am in when i get home. Anyways it went really good. My son has been too aggressive on the playground. Throwing kids down instead of tagging them when playing kickball etc and has been shoving in the hallways. So he got in trouble for that. We got his Iowa tests of Basic skills back. His results there made up for his behavior. Overall he did better than 98% of the state. Did better than 99% in vocabulary, reading comprehension, and reading total. He has the vocabulary of a 5th grader and reads at the level of a 4th grader in his 4th month. He is in 1st grade. His worst core score was math which he scored 93%. His teacher said they hit math and science hard in second grade. I am really proud that he did so well.

edit: any other parents go to these? Do you feel awkward in the room? I have trouble not laughing about some of the things he did. Even though it was wrong, i did the same shit and would start laughing and try to keep a straight face. It was difficult. Share your stories if u wish

Thick your kid sounds like a bully! j/k I don't have any stories but that is funny, wouldn't you feel a little immature if you started laughing at something like that lol. Hopefully he turns out to be a good athlete, sometimes you can tell at a young age, my sister for instance at that age was noticably more athletic than her peers and she has turned out to be quite the freak.

athletics are very important imo. He is a good ball player. Wrestling he is way behind the ones who started "young" but he improved a lot this year and pinned 3 guys. Never won any tourneys though. Baseball will be his best shot. He can switch hit which is a huge advantage. I normally just let him bat left and throw right though so as not to confuse him with the switch hitting. He bats left and golfs right handed also. Some pro's can golf and still hit good and some cant. I know in hs if I golfed it would screw my baseball swing up. That is why I wont let him golf left handed. He is a natural right hander but 3 of his 4 grand parents are lt. handed and he took up hitting left handed very good

One of my sons is 7 and in the second grade...I had a conference with the teacher , and she said he was teasing the 4th graders...I just started laughing...He also got in trouble for looking up a girl's skirt and throwing cake at someone...He has straight A's, but he does love them girls, like his Dad

lmao, that is like me. I couldnt keep from laughing at a couple of stories. She said they were playing kickball and instead of tagging the guy he just threw him down. That was funny. I had an instant flashback to when i was a catcher in little league baseball and a kid was running home. I intentionally layed him out. That is what gave me such a chuckle yesterday. I still had to talk to him about it but was laughing on the inside. Play to win baby. Dont play dirty but definitely play aggressively

Yep I did the Dad thing also, and gave him the little speech...My wife was mad because I didn't do more, but damn I thought it was funny...When the teacher told me about the girl thing, i thought I was going to lose it..I did that all the time....My wife looked at me during the conference, and I thought she was going to slap me

Thick, boys will be boys. If a boy can't throw someone down while playing a game then when can he. I consider playing appropriate for kids. When boys play they tend to be rough. The important thing is that he learns what he should. His test scores show you that he is. Congratulations Thick, you are the father of a smart young boy. It must come from the mothers side.

Thick, I have two kids and go to lots of these conferences. My kids are pretty well behaved, except my tomboy daughter in 5th grade is better in sports than the boys in the class and makes fun of them. In her basketball league she made a 3 point shot at the buzzer last weekend to give them an undefeated season...but here's what I like about the conferences...every teacher my kids have had so far, except for two men has been a hot MILF. I always put on instant tan, wear a muscle shirt etc when I go, and I wind up LMAO because the teachers can't keep their eyes of me, lose their train of thought, etc. Especially when I run game and casually stretch or something.

Then one time my son was trying to figure out what to do for his science project--I was dieting for a show and was totally ripped and I said, why don't you let me stand ona chair and you can put labels of the muscle groups on my body? He thought that was great...gave the proposal to teach ( who knew me and thought it was great) and we were all set to do it, but somehow the principal got wind and nixed it saying she didn't think it would be appropriate for nearly naked man to be standing on a chair in the school cafeteria. BTW, she was an old hag, had the principal been a MILF I'm sure my kid would have gotten an A on the project.

that is funny. There are a lot of teachers here that email me frequently letting me know if they are going out and wanna meet lol. I think it will definitely help my son out with me being pretty close to a few of them now. I still laugh about being in those small chairs

nice to know your son is smart and liking school, I hated school, was just there for the parties, girls and drugs, but becarful when he starts learnign all about the birds and the bees but you probably told him all abouty that already
