Permanent Acne After Primo

My wife has done 4 or 5 cycles using anavar and/or NPP, and used primo for one cycle over a year ago.

She never had acne except for some minor flare around her period until she did primo.

She got no sides from anavar or NPP, but she got some bad acne on primo, and it's never gone away even though she's been off cycle for over a year.

She's tried some different medicines from the dermatologist, but nothing seems to help.

She was prescribed spironolactone, but is reluctant to take it since it could cause fat gain. We have not discussed Isotretinoin with her dermatologist because the possible side effects seem pretty bad.

Has anyone had experience with these or other medicines that actually work?
Also, has anyone seen acne develop like this, and is there a way to solve it?

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Spironolactone is primarily a diuretic, weight gain is not a side effect that I've ever heard about even though it's an androgen blocker, and for acne the dosage is pretty small.

Retin a and antibiotics are usually the first step in treatment.
I'm trying to get accutane prescribed right now it's proving to be difficult.
I will say after a lot of reading and friend's personal experience, I have never heard of a person still having acne after Accutane.

Some folks online have reported weight gain, but who knows if they might be gaining weight for an unrelated reason. Like you point out, spirolactone is an androgen blocker, and I figured the weight gain would be caused by that, but I can see where the right dose might solve the acne without causing other problems.
Do you know anyone who's taken it?

Hey Sk8, we tried the antibiotics and I think a cream we had included retina, but they barely helped and the antibiotic gave her stomach trouble.
I'm not sure we're ready to try accutane. It sounds amazing. Take it for several months and it's typically a permanent cure, but for medicine so powerful, the sides could be strong too.
If we do commit to using it, we'd talk to the doc first, but I have seen online sources.

Plenty of sources here selling both Accutane and its generic version (much cheaper). It is worth a try at the smaller 10mg dosage per day. She may not need to take it for more than a few weeks to get things cleared up.

Has she done her bloodwoork recently? How's her levels?

Spironolactone would be beneficial in several ways. Even at a low dose of 25mg a day. It will help her body adjust. Primo takes a while to get out of the body. Has she gotten her periods back on track and everything else on point? Moods, energy, sex drive, etc?

The only way I could see someone gain weight is if they have PCOS which spironolactone is prescribed for. Well, one of its uses. But that's more due to the PCOS and not the drug itself.

Finally, how's her diet?

Yeah but bro there is no other drug that works like Accutane does.
If the antibiotics help her acne at all as soon as she stops it will come back.
The only thing I'd worry about is the suicidal thoughts.
But let me tell you there is no side effect out there that is worse than acne. Shit sucks.

My wife used spirolactone its for acne as a result of hormone replacement one side is that it's a strong diuretic

She needs to figure out what is causing the acne first. Accutane is very strong and harsh on the body. Plus it has a lot of restrictions while on it.

I think the first thing would be doing bloodwoork.

It's a pretty mild diuretic and you'd need high doses. It's not something prescribed for acne, per say, but more relating to a hormonal imbalance and treated with low doses over an extended period of time. She would need to keep an eye on her potassium levels as well as supplement with electrolytes.

I defer to you on this one @GearGodess. Particularly when it comes to AAS related acne involving a female.

I know in males with mild to moderate cases of AAS related acne one to two weeks of daily low dose Accutane often does the trick without many sides other than tending to really dry out the skin.

Everything seems to be back to normal aside from the acne.
She gets bloodwork a few times a year and reviews it with the same doc who prescribes my TRT. I'd have to dig up the exact results, but the doc didn't mention anything out of line.
Her dermatologist prescribed 50 mg a day of spirolactone.
We both eat pretty clean about 80% of the time or more.
It's good to know spirolactone shouldn't cause weight gain. After all the dieting, workouts, and AAS, we were both kinda like WTF, we don't want to go backwards, but we do want the acne solved.
Do you think a month or 2 of the spirolactone could tip her hormones back into balance?
Is 50 mg a good dose for this? It would be easy to split the pills if 25 mg is preferable.
Thanks for all the help!

I'm not a doctor and if the dermatologist suggested 50mg for her to start with then it is worth a try. I don't feel there is a need to split the dose either just ensure she takes it the same time of the day every day. Everyone responds differently so it could take a month or 3, it's hard to say. But I honestly do not think she needs to worry too much.

The only thing that is possible to happen is reduced sex drive if she will end up on it for extended periods of time. Again, everyone responds differently and she may not get that side but it's good to be aware. Keep an eye on that and advise the doc if she finds it reduced as then she may need to lower the dose.
