Here are some quotes from studies about using Vitamin D for acne.

VITAMIN D IN THE TREATMENT OF ACNE
CHARLES A. SIMPSON, M.D.; FRANCIS A. ELLIS, M.D.; HAYDEN KIRBY-SMITH, M.D.

"Doktorsky and Platt2 reported improvement in 100 per cent of 35 patients with acne after a month’s treatment with 2,500 to 5,000 U. S. P. units of vitamin D daily. There was 75 to 80 per cent improvement in 90 per cent of the cases, but in 10 per cent relapses occurred within ten days after the treatment was stopped. Maynard3 also expressed optimism"

Vitamin D in Acne – A comparison with X ray treatment
By AIERLIN T.-R. MAYNARD, M.D..
Of the 132 acne patients he studied, 28% were “much better” at three months. 47% were “healed at three months.

“I believe I may say that at no time in my dermatological experience have I felt such complete satisfaction with a treatment as I have with the cases of this series. I know that vitamin D is an imperfect weapon to slay this disfiguring disease, but it undoubtedly gives one a feeling of being well defended. From the patients’ viewpoint, it has left little to be desired, as they find themselves improving, both in appearance and in general well-being. Many have expressed the sentiment, “Never felt better.”

VITAMIN D IN THE TREATMENT OF ACNE VULGARIS
Abraham Doktorsky, B.S.; S. S. Platt, B.S.
Full article available only to subscribers.

"We ourselves were our first patients, since both of us have this condition. We started with a dosage of 10 drops a day of Mead’s viosterol in oil 250 D and increased this during a period of two weeks to 20 drops a day. After continuing for a period of one month we observed by actual count of pustules a decrease of about 75 or 80 per cent. We considered these results satisfactory enough to warrant experimentation on a larger number of subjects."

Preliminary evidence for vitamin D deficiency in nodulocystic acne
Arzu Karataş Toğral & Mustafa Turgut Yıldızgören*

"The patients with nodulocystic acne had relatively low serum vitamin D levels compared with the subjects in the control group. The findings from this study suggest that there is a connection between low vitamin D levels and acne. Larger epidemiologic studies are needed to confirm the status of vitamin D levels in patients with acne

Only question though; how old is this study? It says Meads Viosterol and I'm pretty sure that's really old.

Not sure search up studies there’s gotta be a ton read reviews I heard this worked better than accurate for someone but read that with a grain of salt

If we want to go a bit deeper into this subject, in a press release of the year 2011, one of the leading companies in the research of sarcopenia (decrease of muscle mass) claimed that vitamin D increases the expression of the androgen receptor in myocytes (muscle cells).11 Apparently vitamin D increased the conversion of satellite cells into new muscle fibers and also raised the possibility of administering nandrolone decanoate together with vitamin D to enhance its activity.11 According to this press release, nandrolone decanoate also acts on the VDR.11

More recently, the same company reported that the administration of vitamin D in conjunction with nandrolone decanoate, improves its safety profile.12 Apparently vitamin D, prevents the proliferation of prostate cells, being this a key marker of unwanted androgenic effects.12 According to this study, vitamin D can reduce the androgenic activity of testosterone.12

To resume everything that has been said, vitamin D can:

a) Increase the activity of the androgen receptor and VDR.

b) Reduce the levels of SHBG.

c) Reduce the androgenic activity of testosterone and similar hormones

Vitamin D has demonstrated the ability to reduce the expression of the enzyme aromatase, primarily in adipocytes and estrogen-sensitive breast carcinoma.14 Moreover, in this type of cancers, Vitamin D decreases the action of prostaglandins in the breast tissue by suppressing cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2 ), elevating simultaneously 15-hydroxyprostaglandin dehydrogenase (which catalyzes prostaglandin degradation.)14 Prostaglandins stimulate aromatization, so they are major players in estrogen dependent diseases.14

Although this study was done in rats,14 the effect of the inhibition of aromatase in human seems a very plausible hypothesis with vitamin D. This work also showed an increase on the effect of aromataseinhibitors (anastrozole, letrozole and exemestane), when administered with vitamin D.14

I supplement vitamin D, levels consistently came back in the 60-85 range, terrible cystic acne for years. 40mg acne for a year gave me minimal sides and completely acne free. Most amazing decision I ever made. Buy the raw powder, cap it all right away, get your entire year supply for the cost of a 1-2 month pharma

What do you supplement d at and if d doesn’t help me I may do the accu route

I have always been interested in why some people get abysmal acne while using gear and others only get a small amount, if any at all.

I've only found 2 things that help with ance from AAS use. Accutane and a wife that will torture me by cleaning up my back.

Fwiw, I used Accutane after my 2nd cycle (iirc) and although there were some pretty good sides to contend with it was 100% worth it. I just finished a 3 month cycle and literally had one pimple on my back throughout. Wonderful stuff, after you're done using it!

As @Evom1 stated, CAP IT ALL WHEN YOU GET IT. DO NOT WAIT TO CAP IT. Just wanted to make sure that point was emphasised lol

Good timing with this thread. I’ve been fighting cystic (b) acne for years. Seen several dermatologist and tried different antibiotics. I’ve been a bitch when it comes to accutane, the sides and possibly dealing with them makes me bitch out. Therefore, I’ve kept it on my last resort list.

Had a recent flare up after this last blast. I did get results with doxycycline but the indigestion caused hiccups so doc asked me to discontinue and referred me to Derm.

As of last week I’m trying out azythromycin 3 times per week. Dermatologist said it was pretty effective so we shall see. There is a study on NCBI that seems to be promising. I’ve tolerated z packs good in the past so this should go well. I’ll keep you guys posted on the results.

Btw, I am vitamin d deficient, I supplement with Rx vit d, but I don’t take them as scheduled. I’ll give the Azithromycin a go before taking the vit d on a schedule. Curious to see the impact and by making one change at a time I should get honest results.

Um the vitamin d is essential for a lot of things in your body. Take your script

Well aware. I take it enough to keep me within normal limits. Just not as prescribed.

Edit** my annual physical had me WNL for vit d. But I made it a point to get more sun. I think they have it prescribed at 2 or 3 times per week. I take it once.
