Help me wrap my head around using steam to sterilize my media bottle. I’m the past I used the oven and after reading more and more I feel uneasy doing this way again.

1. Does the steam have to touch the glass to sterilize ?

2. How can I keep my bottle dry during the process ? My biggest fear is filtering 500ml into a glass bottle that has a minuscule amount of moisture leftover in it and ruining the entire mix.

Isnt steam one is better? I read somewhere I ask, no loaded question.

I try to figure out a better way for my personal homebrews. I used pressure cooker in the past but want something better.

All you do is cover the top of the glass media bottle with aluminum foil, then sterilize. Leave foil on until used. This is how media containers get sterilized in labs all over.

If you are truly worried about moisture, you could dry heat it in the oven after sterilization (leave foil on). That would drive out any potential moisture remaining.
