Protein: Casein, Concentrate, etc.

I seem to remember Lyle McD being a big advocate of Casein. Anybody used it? Any success or difference noted?

I just ordered some protein from trueprotein.com. I'm assuming it's safe to promote them because it doesn't seem that ATW is supporting the site anymore. Anyway, I haven't got the product yet. But I ordered this morning and it's already been shipped. Pretty good service IMO.

Their selection is really cool. You can custom formulate your protein any way you want. So I mixed 75% Concentrate with 25% Casein. We'll see what happens. There are so many options it's hard to keep it simple.

I love casein so much i was actually gonna start a thread about it. I only use casein at nite w/ 8 oz of skim milk and both times i've bought casein i've noticed a difference in my appereance and strength after a few weeks. Its slow dissolving for those who don't know what casein is, so its perfect to take at nite because your body is always in need of protien even when you're sleeping.

yeah casein is great for the last meal of the day because of the slow absorbtion rate which is very beneficial before bed. throw some fat in there, maybe some flax or peanut butter and that will even slow absorbtion further for you.

I'm gonna have to add something to it. Cause it tastes like shit. I've been using LaBrada's Lean Body stuff for months now. I guess I've gotten spoiled, cause that stuff tastes great.

Mr. Smith? Any input from you? I was hoping you might throw in your opinion on casein and how, when, if beneficial, and whatnot. So... why don't cha?

Here's my recipe for casein at 1/4 the cost..........eat some cottage cheese. :D

Definately. I'm sorry I've wasted so much money on supplements that could have been replaced by less expensive food that tastes better.

I've forced down cottage cheese many times. But I HATE the stuff. I don't know why. When I was a kid I loved it. I'm not a picky eater by any stretch, there are few things that I won't eat. I just can't stomach cottage cheese.

youd ave to eat an ass load of cottage cheese to equal the amount of protein you would get in a couple scoops of casein powder. and also the cottage cheese has i think as many carbs as it does protein. casein is most beneficial at night before going to bed, im not sure who would pick downing an entire tub of cottage cheese over a quick shake before going to bed. because really thats about how much youd have to eat. a cup of cottage cheese has something like 12 grams of protein, not even worth just taking in 12 grams of protein before bed in my opinion.
