Pump Vs. Weight used?

The last couple of workouts I have dropped weight on some of my exercises to rest up a little bit. For example, instead of Bent Rows with 365 X 8, I did 225 X 15 and instead of 225 X 10 on upright rows I did 95 X 12. I only did it twice but I got the most insane pumps from it.

My form has not changed. It is always good. The only difference is that I can feel the muscles instead of just concentrating on the weight.

Amount of weight lifted is better than the amount of pump, isn't it?

it's all good bro: i.e. u need different levels of weights, volumes, etc to fully develop the muscle.....so mixing up your routine as u did is good....reps will give u mass and heavy weights will give u strength which in turn is indirectly related to mass....mix it all up....

the pump is just the blood flow and because u did more reps u got more blood flowing to the muscles....actually u could have accomplished the same thing wilth a fewer number of reps by slowing rep tempo which would achieve an equivalent time under tension....

so it's not necessarily which is better...it's which is more suitable to your goals....

The weight isn't important for size and strength,as long as it's heavy enough to recruit all muscle fibers. The last rep is what's important. it's just easier to get there with heavy weight, because it takes less time. I'm currently using heavy weights for 6-8 reps and i can't wait for workouts, because they're not too bad. i'm using a 4-2-4 tempo. I'll be switching back to a higher rep routine very soon with all out failure. That's when i hate my workouts..... Heavy weight low reps: 1. Makes you feel like a man because of the heavy weight 2. easier to hit failure and less time with workout 3. good for showing off your strength in the gym. 4. not as much lactic acid buildup ...... Lighter weight with higher reps(12-20): 1. more pump/blood means more nutrients to muscle 2. train body to clear lactic acid for efficiently(good for fighters) 3. higher release of HGH because of lower blood PH from lactic acid in blood. 4 build stamina because of increased heart rate. 5. and best of all... We all look bigger with our muscles filled with all that blood :-)
