Quad exercise ?

I have sciatica in my hip and can't do squats. What do you guys suggest besides leg x's? I was thinking about lunges as I don't have access to leg press machine. I've been doing 100lb X's but it's not enough weight and that's all the weight it can hold.
 
I'm curious why you can't squat? Is it painful? I just saw my doctor yesterday and my hips are f'd up and the SO joint is a mess and he didn't tell me not to squat.
 
I thought you were a trainer,lol. there are machines, but if you do not have access to one, find a GHR or horizontal ext bench and turn around so that your legs are hanging behind you, and extend (raise your legs). You can also suspend a flat bench across a rack to do these. once you can add resistance, use bands or hold a db with your feet.
 
I am a trainer. Never had a job as one and don't have access to gym equipment. So it sound like a reverse leg raise lying on my belly.
