Question about ampules.

Never used one of these before and i hated it. Had a 1ml one and my first mistake was drawing out with a 25g needle. I only got 0.5 in syringe instead of 1ml. Maybe a bit dripped out. I read if you turn amp upside down it won't drip out but it def would have a came out. Not sure what i did wrong.

My question is... can i just pour the whole ampule directly into the syringe if i pull the plunger out then just pop it back in?

I don't think pouring into a syringe is a good idea, that way it passes through the broken glass. If you tilt the amp and draw with the needle straight to the corner of the bottom you'll be able to draw it all. Just keep in mind to shake the amp once or twice like we used to do with the old mercury temp thermometers to make sure all the oil is on the body and not stuck in the neck of the amp, that's how i got fooled when i cracked my first. If it's stuck in the neck there's a chance you won't see it. Just inspect it well before you crack it, especially if it's in amber colour (like mine) and not in clear glass.

bro its so easy im confused here. Pop the top off take the barrell and attach the drawing needle. Stick the needles into the amp and pull out the oil. Im guessing youre using a short ass needle cuz that seems to be the thing now everyone is injecting subq with a 30g. Maybe im wrong but if the needle isnt getting to the bottom of the amp then tilt the amp to the side and draw it up as you tilt it.

Another possible way if you want to inject with a shorter needle is to backload an insuilin pin. But I see you used a 25 guage to pull it out what was the reason you couldnt get it all out?

Maybe he cracked the amp and he left some in the neck. First time for me it went like that, although the test was in castor oil which is thick like a syrup, if the amp is amber and not clear glass you might not see it.

yea maybe. So i will just shake the amp until it all goes to the bottom half. So op dude just do it like this. Shake the amp and make sure all the oil is in the bottom half of the amp. Take your amp opener and crack off the top linning up the marking with the file on the opener. Then take the needle you are going to draw with and put it into the amp and turn it so the hole in the needle is facing towards the bottom and just pull it all out. If you run out of barrell from pulling in air just pull out the needle and push the air out and keep pulling until you get all the gear out.

2. Push thumb forward to snap neck
3. Cut hand
4. Brush shards of glass off hand onto floor
5. Backfill insulin syringe by dumping amp into it
6. Get .9ml instead of 1ml because its not pharma and fuck me
7. Dose via backfilling other syringes with full syringe

I think OP is saying that his needle isn't reaching the bottom of the ampule and he has an extra 0.5ml just sitting there out of reach? In which case you're gonna have to play with the angles but you need longer needles in the future.

It's strongly advised you don't pour the test out unless you have filter needles. You can get tiny glass shards in an injection. if it wasn't a clean break. I wouldn't risk it for 0.5ml

He's drawing with a 25g, i doubt there's a 25g that's half inch. With 1" you can hit the bottom easily.

I fold up some a4 paper into 1/4 of it's size, put over ampwith the fold of the paper on the tip of amp, then snap like normal, paper shields your right hand from any cuts

Now that’s oldskool! Works well though, although personally I prefer to use an amp opener - had the same one for about 20 years.

As for oil getting trapped in the neck before opening, here’s an old skool fail safe trick:

1: hold amp upright, hanging by fingertips
2: make circular motions with your hand whilst simultaneously moving your hand downward - a downward spiral

Guaranteed to get all oil out from the neck & into the main body.
