Question for guys that bike or use stationary cycling for cardio

Is it normal to have several days where your normal power output or intensity is significantly less than normal? Some weeks I can cycle at an intense pace without any soreness or fatigue. This week it seems like after only 15 minutes at an easy pace my quads just start burning to the point where I have to stop and take a break. It’s starting to piss me off as I am using cardio to help lose some bodyfat along with my diet.

Any ideas why this could be happening? My sleep hasn’t been well and I often eat a large meal an hour beforehand.

Just sounds like casual over training to me. I just got into cycling and have been doing a cancer challenge averaging 42km per day so far the first 3 days were fine the 4th I was dragging ass within the first 10km.

That's a lot of riding every day.

Maybe take a couple days off?

Oh yeah it hit me hard after a bit, I put 1000km for the month of august for the challenge...no shot that happens as someone new. My cardio is definitely doing great though now with 20km being a breeze and 40km being easy now (no elevation or hill climbs in my city).

I'll probably top out at 600km for the challenge because I had lasik surgery and took 4-5 days off and I'm heading away for a few days vacation.

Definitely was over training and need to stagger off days, I just went down a rabbit hole of Ironman triathlons and wanted to get going as fast as possible. The quads said no lol.

When I first sat down on a bike for the purpose of training, after the first two days, my body ached from exertion and I ate forced to pedal. now I pick up the pace more smoothly)

For me these numbers are very serious and it seems to me to train and train for such sensations. I will try to reach this level too

OP.

Are you consistent with carb and fluid intake daily pre-workout? Do you use any intra nutrition/supps during endurance sessions?
Nutrition (or lack of it) will have a big impact on your pain threshold and lactic acid build up.
