Rest & Training.......

My experience is that I never workout two days in a row. My workouts are high in intensity. I only do one set of each exercise. I do a lot of drop sets, but count that as one set. Now I will do several different exercse that focus on the chest for example, but I will only do one set(often followed imediatey with a drop set to failure) So....I will do four different exercise for the same muscle totaling four sets. Because I am only doing one set per exercise, I hold nothing back. I workout about 45 minutes to an hour, but I am getting it done. I alternate two routines each focusing on different muscle groups I hit every muscle twice every eight days. It has worked great for me, but I cannot workout two days in row. I am 40 and I need the rest Opinions?

me too, i cut back to 3 days a week for now from 4 but hitting the gym much harder on those 3 days. Plus i eat a lot more on my off days

I hear you , I've been lifting every other day for quite a few years now . Hit each group once every 6 days hard . 10 to 14 sets to failure for each muscle group . I'am usually healed up a day or 2 before i hit the group again . I turn 42 soon .

You're talking about bulking/mass training
A cutting routine would be more work [reps] and less rest.
