Rest weeks

Basically there's a gym close to my town that has openly advertised how you should not take rest (days) but rest (weeks) so go gym once take a week off. Any one else get shit like this in there city's etc.

For me I take a week off every 3-4 months and during that time it's cardio. Also I lighten up my diet so that I don't put on unneeded fat.

A whole week off from the gym....? Is that when they have their period? Fuck, a deload week is one thing, but just not going at all? Fuuuuuck, id rather eat a lead sandwhich

I was howling when I seen it even asked if it was a miss print. And the guy started chatting bubbles about its for beginners bla bla and it has great health benefits. And my reply was would there not be health benefits for a person to come more then once a week? and he just looked like a rabbit in some headlights clearly he was reading off some company memo.

Beginners don't need that much time off.

Intermediate and advanced lifters need to manage fatigue (fatigue should be included as a variable in training at this stage) and the deload week is a way to do that, and the most effective way to deload is time off from the gym.

Of course most people won't do that.

Which is a shame because it would help resolve a lot of people's nagging aches and pains and plateaus in progress.

A lifter on a good program can take an entire week off every 3-4 weeks and probably make more progress than the guy who goes in everyday no matter what (assuming both are training intensely). The lifter who is deloading as indicated will feel better, have less aches and pains, less likely to explode something, etc. They will make more progress and faster because they can perform properly.

It's a technique that is generally used by intermediate or advanced lifters. I don't know why this gym is advocating it for beginners in such a way.
