Savikas Strong AF

I was thinking the exact same thing when I seen him preforming them. Those are not ass to grass lol.....he's officially disqualified from being a power lifter :)
No PL arent required to go A2G. Only olympic weight lifters are. But they are required to break parallel as is the rule in every PL federation in existence. I swear hes not breaking parallel. Those extra couple inches ARE a big deal

There's no real requirement or need to go to parallel in strongman. its not a contested lift for them and he does them for overall strength. It's probably enough depth for his specific sport.

PL are required to go to parallel but certain feds tend to be VERY GENEROUS with their judging if you catch what doc is putting down

Im suprised the same rules dont apply? Ive always thought parallel was necessary in strongman or close enough to the eye to pass as parallel? Last year the mountain was docked one rep on the overhead press which would of given him the WSM title. Not Eddy Hall. Ive reviewed that rep a few times and have to agree with the mountain on this. It was clearly a rep. The winning rep. If their that choosey then squat depth should apply as well

Those squats were high dont u agree or am i crazy?

I thought someone would have commented about his leggings lmao but he's such a fucking beast he could lift in a bikini and I'd still respect the grind hahaha

The leggings seem to be a trend these days with the younger power lifting and bodybuilding crowd, Especially amongst 20 something's.

They do look high. I thought power lifters were supposed to get all the way parallel before attempting to pushn the weight back up for a full clean rep? Nonetheless I'm sure this man could easily break parallel an push the weight back up. He's always seemed like the type that if you could grab it an get it balanced....then that shits getting repped lol. I use to love watching him an Marius going at in back in the day on wsm. Savikis has been throwing around heavy ass weight like this for it seems like a decade ago or more.

I'm not guna lie.....I'm not diggin the leggings. I was like wtf is he wearing smh. I don't know about you guys but I wouldn't be caught dead wearing some shit like that. Throw me a beater an some long shorts an I'm g2g lol. One thing I wouldn't do is walk up to savikis an tell him how faggy the leggings look bahahahahah

They do but you don't eyeball it, they have platforms that the weights have to hit. Sometimes you don't have to be parallel and sometimes you do... Depends on what kind of object is on the ends of the barbell.

There is some more context to that event though IMO. Halfthor went first and got X reps, he was happy with the number he got and didn't dispute it. When Eddie came out, he asked how many reps do I need to do to win? They told him X reps and he proceeded to do X reps and quit because he didn't need to do anymore, he had won that event. THEN, halfthor was pissed off because he was beaten. But, Eddie probably would have beaten him anyways because he would have hit whatever number he was told when he asked how many reps he needed to win.

By powerlifting standards they were without a doubt high.

I haven't kept up with WSM OR STRONGMAN comps like I should but to my knowledge, squats aren't that common in their events and the depth isn't always to parallel (according to strongman.org). Some of those behemoths can't even get to parallel bc their legs and guts are too big

Ive always wondered if those really big guys can even get to a proper rom at their size lol. Makes perfect sense though.

Eh i dont buy it. The PL equivalent of their best squatters are so damn fat if you werent actually told they were PL youd swear they were just fat.

Exhibit A:
Ray Williams
He doesnt appear to be having a problem getting parallel despite that massively grotesque gut, flabby titties and huge rear end.
These strongmen can get parallel and they do! I just thought at least in those vids big Z was cheatin those reps. And i cant stand THAT SHIT!

A lot of times they have stands they hit with every rep- the short guys hardly break at the knee they are so high

I remember my first powerlifting meet in a small town in South Texas. Anthony Clark was there to attempt a world record in the squat. My comp was the day before his. Like I said it was my first meet and I was freaking amazed at the men there competing. HUGE GUYS! Anyways I finished my comp and my coach and I went to the hotel. I was exhausted and I crashed out till about midnight. Woke up and coach and I were hungry so we went to Dennys for some grub. We sit down and look over and there sits Mr. Clark at the next table. Night before his attempt at the squat record and this dude's table is freaking filled up with plates! Eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, oatmeal, etc. Tons of food! At 1 in the morning! He failed at his attempt and almost got hurt as he kinda fell during the attempt. I took a pic with him after his comp and I felt like a twig. Yes sir those guys are fucking huge and the weight they move is incredible. It amazes me that they can get to parallel. But they do. Sorry for the long post @Skull but this thread reminded me of him. :)

Savickas is my favorite strongman, he was in his prime really well rounded, excelled in OHP, holds a world record in deadlift which show his overall build unlike Ray Williams as an example in PL with an only lower body. Eddie Hall has a surpassing chance if lives on as nearly passing out on 500 kilo deadlift and 15 rep squat in a year can't be healthy in any case
