sick from creatine?

Does anyone else get sick from creatine? It absolutely KILLS my stomach! I've been on the throne 14 times today, 10 yesterday. And cramping like a MOFO!

I didn't think I was taking too much, 10-20g/day; 5-7g before bed, and 5-10g in my workout water. But my friend said he gets the same 'condition' when he takes too much.

I guess I could step it down a bit and see if it goes away. Anyone else get this?

You're cramping from the water loss, not the creatine directly. I've seen many people have similar problems when taking whatever amount is to much for them.

In your case, I would drop it down to 2.5g taken in your meal or protein drink before working out and another 2.5g taken at the other end of the day. That's all you need anyway. There's always the thought that more is better and that's obviously not true.

My training partner will not take creatine for the same reasons you posted. He gets extreme upset stomach, cramps, and also heartburn. I agree with lowering the amount you are using currently till it does not bother you anymore.

As MaxRep said, increase your water intake. Most of the problems associated with creatine use have been from lack of water intake and not the creatine.

I don't know if this is just psychological or not, but I used to get alot of stomach pain until I switched to creatine in capsule form. It's more expensive so I'm deciding if it's worth it, but for the extra cake the stomach pain is gone.

the only real symptoms i get is nausea..but then once the workout starts i'm okay..and like MaxRep said..lower the intake..usually more then 5g's is pissed out and a waste of money...

Cool! I thought I was crazy! It got soo bad last night I was sure it was a stomache flu. (it still could be I guess)

I will dial it down to 2-2.5 grams/2xd.
My problem was I never really measured when I put the creatine in my water. I just kept a plastic soup spoon in the jug and tossed in whatever looked right. I'll be replacing that spoon with a 0.5tsp measuring spoon.

That's for the feedback.
