Sometimes I feel awful after I inject Test...

Hi All,

Since being given the OK to do my own Test injections, I've done 12 of them. There have been 4 occurrences now where this will happen:

-The needle goes in no prob
-I aspirate...no blood
-I inject
-I pull the needle out and get a small amount of blood

Usually within 12 hours of the shot, I will start feeling dizzy and lightheaded. It will usually last 4-5 days and generally, I feel mentally very "out of it" when this happens....kinda like a bad hangover feeling.

What is going on? It almost seems as if the Test is going into a vein, but I get no blood in the needle when I aspirate. The only hint I have is that when everything goes smoothly and I pull the needle out, usually I get no blood or maybe a tiny bit.

Am I passing through a vein? This bothers me enough that I'm considering going back to Androgel. In fact, my results with Test in general seem to mixed and sporadic. HCG, however, has been really good to me...it kinda makes me wish I had tried HCG monotherapy first.

I don't know if u read any of my posts a while back but i had a problem like that when i first started the shots.......... a few people told me it's "shocking" on the cns and after your body ajusts it would go away.... well i don't know if that is true or not but i'm 8 shots in and i feel alot better then i did when i first started......... how long have u been on shots total?

I've been on injectable Test since April of last year. It was 400mg every 3 weeks (administered by my doc) until November '04. That was a real rollercoaster. So we switched to 200mg every 2 weeks (also administered by my doc) until Dec '04. He agreed to let me self-administer 100mg every from that point forward.

Have you ever checked your blood pressue the day after your injection ?

Get your E2 tested doing shots for the amount of time you did you 400 mgs. Hell that is going to convert into E2 Estradiol. It did for me.

I don't think it is the E2...

These are my lab results from December until now:

I did 100mg last Friday (March 11)...that evening, the dizziness/disoriented feeling started again.

I am on Lithium and Klonopin because I have been diagnosed with type II Bipolar disorder. I have been on those meds for 5 years. Psychiatric meds have been effective for me, but I pursued HRT because my thought was that some/a lot of the the instability was caused by low Testosterone and there was definite room for improvement.

Unfortunately, this is really a grey area. Psychiatrists generally have no experience with patients who use HRT and Endos/Uros generally have no experience with patients who use mood stabilizers. When this happens, it almost seems like the Testosterone is interacting with on of the meds somehow.

I got a shot yesterday and last night at 2 am I had to take a 1/4 of a one mg. Arimidex. Your test looks good but you could be like me after a shot you E2 spikes on you. I take one Indolplex/DIM a day and maybe 3 times a week I will add the 1/4 of Arimidex. After taking it I get better in a hour but then most of the night I had very hard wood that wakes me up.

When was the last time your doctor has done a CBC and what were the results? If you have polycythemia, it could be giving you the lightheadedness and dizziness you describe. Just a shot in the dark

I had a pretty thorough blood work-up done in May of 2003 before starting Androderm. I did Androderm and Androgel both for a period of about 4 months before stopping both due to skin problems and insurance problems in the case of Androgel. I started HRT again 4 months later using injectible Test.

CBC results were normal at the time. The only thing abnormal was the low Test. (212; ref range = 260-1000)

A lot has gone on since then though, so another workup is a good idea. I'll ask my doc about it when I go in next time.

Or you could give a pint of blood to the Red Cross if after you did the you found you feel better this may be what you will need to do to stay on TRT.
Phil

You may have a sensitivity to some component of what you are taking. Try a different testosteorne preparation.

Interesting thought, Swale. Based on my TRT diary, these problems with dizziness and such only seemed to rear their head after I started self-administration of TRT following your protocol. At that point, I began self-injecting with Depo-Testosterone (Test Cypionate) that I received from a pharmacy.

I was looking through some insurance paperwork last night because I'm still having some problems getting stuff paid for. One of the papers was the bills for my injection visits while my doc was administering the Testosterone. The bill shows "Testosterone Enthanate up to 3mL".

Interesting...I'm gonna call and double-check.
