How do I sterlize the media bottles?
Everybody say different ways so I feel unsecure how to do it.
Isoprop or heat or what?
Regards,

Thank's for reply!
That method will not work on bigger bottles. Any idea how to sterilize bigger bottles?

How big are we talking about.. cause i know for a fact mothers sterilize their babies bottles with boiling water...

maybe you just need a bigger pot??

Maybe I'm making it more complicated then it is.
Maybe I don't see the forest for all the trees ;)
It's a one litre bottle.

The only way to STERILIZE is an autoclave, you can however use 170 degrees Celsius for 120 minutes to get close. Alcohol either ISOprop or ethyl will degrade some bacteria but they will still propagate.

First wash out media bottle and rinse with distilled water. Then autoclave. Same with the screw top caps. If you were using a dispenser, be sure that is autoclaved as well.

If you don't have the means (home use only and no plan to buy an autoclave), second choice would be dry heat sterilize in the oven with a cycle of alcohol and a cycle of dry heat.

Thank's very much for your answer. It's appreciated.
I'm thinking of buying a Pressure steam sterilizer then my problems would be solved. As they market them they say it's like a autoclave for home-use.
Best regards,

The pressure types work well. Be sure you don't pack it too full...steam needs flow area. Also, expect water to drip down...there is no dry heat cycle (kinda like a dish washer has). But overall good investment. I use an electrical model made by all-American.

Thank's a lot for all the tips friends.
Yes all-American is the brand I'm thinking of.
Also read that it's important to use destilled water in them.
I'm not a newbie but have not been registrated on this forum before.
Best regards to all of you!

anybody else think it was funny that the last post was by wanted so the thread on the main board said "Sterlization wanted"
